Female sexual pleasure and a new sexual revolution…

Getting a woman off is not always straightforward – and that’s as true for another woman as it is for a man. Our anatomy is pretty complicated, and what works for me won’t necessarily work for the next girl you bed. Getting the basics right is a good first step though; and the French education system is giving the next generation a head start (excuse the pun) by teaching about female sexual pleasure as well as biological function.

Throughout evolution, there is only one human organ that exists for the sole purpose of providing pleasure – the clitoris. Too bad it’s also a source of confusion, its precise location and physiology shrouded in more mystery than any other part of the human body.

French sociomedical researcher Odile Fillod has taken a big step toward unraveling this mystery by creating a 3D printed, full-size anatomical model of a clitoris that has been introduced into French schools. The sculpture will help teach something that has been missing from educational sex chat until now, the fact that while the penis and vagina fit together perfectly during sex, they are not equivalent in terms of stimulation – for females that’s primarily down to the clitoris.

“It's important that women have a mental image of what is actually happening in their body when they're stimulated,” Fillod says. “In understanding the key role of the clitoris, a woman can stop feeling shame, or [that she’s] abnormal if penile-vaginal intercourse doesn't do the trick for her – given the anatomical data, that is the case for most women... the equivalent of a penis in a woman is not a vagina, it’s her clitoris. Women get erections when they’re excited, only you can’t see them because most of the clitoris is internal. I wanted to show that men and women are not fundamentally different.”

What the 3D model irrefutably proves is that the general preconception about the clitoris being no bigger than the size of a pea – a tiny nub that sleeps behind a fleshy hood until aroused – is clearly wrong. In reality, at approximately eight inches in length, the clitoris is bigger than the average penis and it actually encircles the vagina – more boomerang than button.

So what about the coveted G-spot orgasm? Well, research suggests that mechanical stimulation of the G-spot may in fact be stimulating the internal portion of the clitoris. In a nutshell, the clitoris is like an internal penis, and should be given the same physical stimulation that men want women to heap on their cocks. Fillod’s revelatory model looks set to transform our understanding of the female body and sexual pleasure; maybe it will even ensure that fun-time becomes come-time, every time.

How interesting! Now I want to get out there and apply some of this new found knowledge.
As far as sex education goes; here in the USA we are still not in the twenty first century. Spreading the word will have to be an underground effort by dedicated individuals, a worthy cause...

This is very interesting! 🤔 I hope they will update the sexual education classes here in the US as well. I always wished the pleasure part was taught just the same as the medical and anatomical. That would save so much trouble and confusion later. Thanks so much for sharing!

Exactly! Teach children/young adults what their bodies are capable of before they reach the age where it becomes a naughty secret. Let them ask questions and find out the benefits and drawbacks of all levels of sexual activity and whether that's right for them when the time comes or whether they'd be better off delaying it for the right time or the right partner.

We wouldn't give someone a powerful tool that can be dangerous like a car or a gun without educating them how to use it right, why in the world would we have a different standard for our own bodies?

If you can't tell, I'm a strong advocate for systematic and comprehensive sex ed, but by comprehensive I mean comprehensive. Teach how the body works and all its parts, and fully and openly discuss all the ramifications so that when children are old enough they can make educated choices.

Yes, I agree! At a proper age or maturity level(sometimes not the same coherent level), young adults should have a chance to learn about their own bodies extensively. The more knowledge they have early on, the safer they will be. Most of all, that knowledge will promote confidence with the understanding. I would like to see sexual education be confronted without shame so there will be more forming adults that aren't in the dark about their potential partners.

I hope they have this model in OBGYN clinics someday also.

Wow! In my recent A & P class, the shape of the clitoris was hinted at, but nowhere near as well illustrated as with this model. Incredible!

Great article, Naomi ~ very informative, thank you!
