The music and editing make the opening and closing of this film a stylistic, directorial achievement -
and something that I consider one of the more intriguing things I've seen put to erotic film this year. The moments captured are tender, feminine and as the title indicates 'angelic'. Unfortunately though, the body of the film doesn't hold up. While the beginning of the sexual encounter continued the "angelic" theme with aplomb, everything changed after that one cut: 8:46-8:47. What felt authentic, genuine and driven by the chemistry of the girls changed to "playing to the camera", "to the microphone" and "hitting the marks". It felt dishonest, and as soon as I felt that, you lost me Alis. I'm sorry.

Regarding your feedback and explanations:
A great point - I especially appreciated the example given re; the girl in the crowd. I think your philosophy and pursuit of authenticity are laudable. I'm able to better understand your rationale and perspective now. I still think your use of these shots, in this film at least, was imperfect however. I understood that voyeurism reflected through the camera/viewer was what you were going for, but the primary use of tripod and dolly shots didn't adequately convince me of that, so I wrote it off as a flawed/failed attempt. An unbroken shot from a handheld or steadicam would have unequivocally reflected that theme however. Which brings me to my next point.
I can only repeat what I've said above and further explain what I mean. I'm certain that as someone passionate about good film you would have watched Birdman and/or The Revenant. The shooting and editing style used by Iñárritu and Lubezki to me, best reflects the reality of life, the eye of the viewer and thus, with regard to this film, would have afforded you the best means by which to convey voyeurism - i.e. it would have BEST suited this film.
I can respect that, particularly the subtle approach. Again however, a little change would have better conveyed her desires/situation. The wide shot used failed to illuminate the importance of the shot, and her expression didn't communicate consent or delight in the activity, not to my satisfaction anyway. A zooming lens that tracked toward a close-up of her face as she reacts however... that would have stipulated drama and purpose, as well as adding layer to everything that preceded it.

J. This is all VERY promising, but a few points of feedback regarding two aspects here:
If I’m being completely honest, this represents a somewhat basic understanding of BDSM. Please understand that, that’s not to say your understanding is basic, just that the way the story/theme/concept was presented in this particular film. The most important aspect of BDSM is a “shared experience” based on trust, communication and connectedness – a fantasy such as this is not performed for the pleasure of one partner, but both. As it was represented here, this was entirely one-sided. Had we have seen Tess consent to the situation depicted, perhaps in a prelude, and/or even “thank” Tracy in a postlude, the story would have then, in my mind at least, represented a healthy BDSM relationship.
You’re an artist J, which means that you not only have a very unique opportunity to educate and shed light on the many aspects of our sexual lives here at MetArt Films… it means you have a certain responsibility to. Your voice, your teachings can guide people, especially young, impressionable people such as myself toward healthy sexual relationships and practices. That is something rare and special you can contribute as an artist. Something you’ve already accomplished twice with ‘Washed Away’ and ‘Exposition’.
P.S. I’d recommended watching Locanta’s ‘Secretly: Vol. 2’ for a close to perfect, visually-poetic representation BDSM. Love For Sale (1) is also great, though a lot of content is conveyed through expositional dialogue, which I’ve never been the biggest fan of. Still a fantastic feature though!
2. Technical Aspects
I never have and never will support shooting in and around objects that clutter and blur the foreground of a shot unless they have artistic value. That means they in some way contribute to the atmosphere and themes of the piece. Did any of the shots you used fulfill that requirement? I’m sorry to sound harsh here J. I just hate it and see it WAY too much, mostly because people think it “looks artistic”.
Editing. The issue I have is a similar issue I have with Locanta at times. You connect static shots with static shots, moving mostly between extreme close-up and long shot. It makes it difficult to orient oneself to location and situation as well as somewhat robbing your atmosphere of life and your actresses/characters of their physical performance. My recommendation, take a leaf out of Iñárritu and Lubezki’s book – steadicam or handheld it, bring us closer to reality and relax on the editing just that little bit.
Sound mixing. A few issues here, with some takes being louder then others, as well as some knocking in the microphone. Transitions with music and dialogue were also a touch awkward at times too. THANK YOU for including dialogue however. Just a few little technical things to work on here. With regards to score, I’ve taken a liking to Lupin’s current approach. He first used it on ‘Symphony’ – which if you haven’t seen I highly recommend also – where the score ebbs and flows, reprising itself, building and fading in accordance with the action. It’s a wonderful way to establish and complement the atmosphere of a piece.
Finally. Agree about the jacket moment, and I’d even add the panty moment too. A little prep and practice before the ballet tends to go quite a long way ;)

What I would have done with this series...
I would have used it as a fusion of The Writer and Love For Sale, with Vox overtones. Cat would have been 'The Writer' of our opening reads, where she'd have divulged her sexual fantasies. These would have been 'Voxed'/voiced by women of different cultures, languages and ethnicities from a tablet/ipad - importantly there would have been NO subtitles, allowing for incomplete context and your viewer's imagination to fill the gaps. Those gaps would then concurrently be coloured as said fantasy played out in the body of the film. We would have then watched Cat's postlude exactly as you shot it. The overarching story as told by Cat, (via her girls), would have been one of sexual awakening and exploration, re; Love For Sale.
What appealed to me in particular were the opening two scenes where Cat was matched against Nikita and Noe, girls so completely different than herself. Their look and aura was confident and spunky, which captured a most intriguing dichotomy, especially when set against Cat and her "teasing glances and smiles" Rose describes below. I think the tattoos in this series could have been used artistically too as a representation of disobedience, rebellion and breaking the rules. I think that could have been a central theme to Cat's story. For that reason too, I would have loved to have seen Misha Cross featured in this series. As to the fourth actress, I'm not sure, but given Cat and Nikita's chemistry I would have saved their scene until last also.
Anyway. That's what I would have done. You're welcome to use those ideas in future instalments if you wish. Perhaps we can even discuss that, and the idea of a Vox (3).

Didn't miss it... I just think implying things is a dangerous game. For me it needed to be VERY explicitly stated/shown to be role-playing in this specific scenario, otherwise, many other things could (and were in my opinion) implied too.
Disappointed to see the subtitles on this film. There's so much more to found in this series without them. I'd urge for a re-release of Ep 1 and 3, and to leave the subtitles off the upcoming Ep 4.

I'm sorry, but I can't even for a second find this plot arousing, amusing or light-hearted in any way. I can assure you that for a female, being stalked by a male (or assumed to be male) in back-alley's like that would equate to nothing less than EXTREME fear. Roughly one month ago today in my country, a nurse was gang-raped, robbed and murdered on her way home from work. Unless you're working in a different genre of film, I'd ask you to refrain from ever representing this sort of situation again.
I'm sorry to be so harsh, but this one just didn't sit well with me at all. If it's any consolation, I've been thoroughly enjoying all your other work and think you're carrying on Viv's legacy in a very authentic and beautiful way.

I was just thinking more about this. In Episode 1, I'd mentioned a few little things that I would have changed, and basically, by removing the subtitles from Episode 2 you've fixed all those things. By leaving the story ambiguous (at least to non-native speakers), you're leaving the door open for interpretation.
I like this series as a character study of Sweet Cat and of her fantasies as 'The Writer' of 'The Reads'. As I said above, watching Sweet watch her girls is the most intriguing part of this series. To me, she seems like the innocent, well-to-do girl you take home to your family and yet, when cast her against these women with such unique appearances and distinctly spunky personalities, our conceptions of her are challenged. If these are her fantasies, could she perhaps be both - a princess on the streets and a prostitute in the sheets? By letting that postlude act as a continuation from Episode 1, I begin to wonder... is this the story of Sweet exploring new and exciting elements of her sexuality? I'm not sure if it was what was intended, but that's the power of ambiguity; you let a viewer paint their personality into something and formulate their own distinct ideas.
Now, I have two statement and question:
Statement 1 - I sincerely hope Sweet remains in the same role for the final 2 Episodes of this series, it could be something extremely special should that be the case
Statement 2 - If it isn't, there's certainly potential to bring Sweet back and cast her against similar girls. This series has SO MUCH POTENTIAL!
Question - Would you be willing to re-release Episode 1 without subtitles either here or privately please?

I'm going to just take an honest approach to this, there will be moments of harshness, but please know that I love and respect all of you who have put in so much work this year.
On the whole, the year has been disappointing. Alis Locanta is one of my favourite directors and he sits alongside not just the greats of erotica, but the giants of cinema too: Hitchcock, Kubrick, Scorcese, Malick, Fincher, Nolan, Soderbergh, etc. I love his work, and yet, other than Vox, I can't find a film that I was genuinely impressed by this year. While Alis is the best creator of Erotic Film walking the Earth, his work is far too contrived to pass as Erotica. For me, the core of Erotica lies in the sexual chemistry of those on screen - the job of the creators is to capture spontaneous, impulsive, ad-lib lovemaking that feels authentic and pure. Unlike film, no amount of vision, direction, film technique, production value or editing is going to save something that doesn't have chemistry. That might work for Erotic Film, but that's because Film's a different beast - everything is designed to convey a concept, a theme or an emotion. Erotica... all I really wanna know is that the people on screen are in love/lust for one another and that what they're sharing is genuine. That's what needs to come first.
I was disappointed this year too, because Viv was always primarily Hungarian/Czech in the models he worked with, and those girls - maybe it's a cultural thing - helped define the "feel" of his work. When I think of the girls that I believe Viv himself would be working with, I don't think of Alis' Spanish girls, I go instead to Alexis Brill, Kiara Lord, Aiko Bell, Alexis Crystal, Lexi Dona, Paula Shy, Viola and Nesty. Cool girls, Viv-style personalities and they have that classic 'Viv - long legs and pretty feet combination'. They would have been a dream for him! I'd love to see more of those girls this year. It would be cool too, to see some of Viv's classic models drop by from time-to-time: Dorothy Black, Sophie Lynx, Brandy Smile, Zafira, Blue Angel, even Cayenne Klein and Suzie Carina if they're still working.
I really, really, really want too, to see a return of Viv's 'legs and feet' aesthetic. That defined him! I honestly think J. Zakari; given his style, his worship of the female figure (particularly legs and feet) and his fetish for lingerie and shoes; would be the best suited to taking VivThomas in the direction it needs to go. Jon, you know as well as I do too, that J's an artist. Alis has set a wonderful foundation, but you can see from his RELOADS that he's drained and out of ideas for VT. I think you're doing the right thing with him right now, I honestly do, keep him on that path. Let's get Sandra and J. as our guiding forces and have both Alis and Andrej contribute a film here and there.
Anyway. That's my honest revision of 2016, and my honest feelings on what the best version of VT 2017 should look like.

This is probably my favourite thing I’ve seen from you in some time. It was a welcome update because you genuinely reloaded, revamped and reinvented, strengthening the mythology of the Vox series. That’s been the problem with TRGO, The Heat, BMS, Memento and even My First – you already “found” and “gave” everything those stories had to offer at SexArt. My advice moving forward is that, should you intend to continue to release RELOADS, tackle a mythology that you haven’t already conquered. I think for example there’s still something to be found in Shoes (in particular), Inside Couple, 2GirlsShow, A Rainy Afternoon and I’ve Been Missing U. Everything else.
With regards to my thoughts about the film, let’s being with that setup. Loved the handheld, the black and white, the score… it was a relaxed, real, authentic vibe and it provided the much needed “hitachi-under-the-table” context that was missing from the original.
When it came to the read, for some reason, the way Nikita’s presence and story challenged the innocence of Sweet Cat’s smile had me in awe. You literally could have had the entire film, 15-20 minutes of it just be that interaction and I would have been happy. The dynamic… they challenged and complemented each other beautifully.
I was a little upset about the content of the read however, for three reasons: one, Fifty Shades is such a poor representation of BDSM and you know that – I’m sure you’ve had long discussion with Estelle and Amarna about it. Two, I personally feel that given this is VivThomas, and that we’re representing a lesbian community, a lesbian story would have been more appropriate. Which brings me to point three… What would have added a really interesting psychological layer is if Sweet Cat had prepared a story of her own. Nikita could have read Sweet’s hand written account of a past encounter, or of a fantasy she hopes will happen/is planning to enact – the ensuing sex scene then could have enacted that encounter, past or present. That, in my mind would perfectly link everything together. Call it Vox: Vol. 2 and release it on SexArt :)
Now, about that sex scene. Nikita is an honest performer, you can tell. She’s definitely not my type, but I loved watching her because she’s honest. Sweet, I love her and I’d date her in a heartbeat, but she’s got a Silvie thing going on. She’s overly expressive in the face and in the sounds she makes and it comes as across as kind of fake. She improved as the scene went on, but I think that was because as the scene went on, it did actually get hotter and so that felt suited; I think she responded to Nikita also. On the whole though, it was well filmed. I’d love to see some handheld stuff come back, maybe even a steadicam if members aren’t ok with handheld. Just something that will bring us closer the girls, something closer to reality and intimacy and that will let you explore the girls bodies.
Anyway. That’s all I can think of right now Alis. Cool entry! Keep bringing me stuff like this please :)
It's lovely to see something original and fresh. All around, it's a great scene, and I'm looking forward to seeing how the story evolves. A few points though:
Camerawork: whilst it's good, it's lacking in the imagination department, and I still struggle with the fact that you virtually refuse to shoot legs and feet - to me at least, they are the most erotic part of a woman. In any case, mainstream I'd refer you to Lubezki, particularly his work with Inarritu. It's so incredibly beautiful, like a ballet, and it keeps me visually intrigued and excited. With regard to erotic work, I'd check out Eddie Powell. He shot an AVN winning scene with Riley Reid and Remy Lacroix a couple of years ago which I'd HIGHLY recommend watching. The way a single shot will explore numerous/all parts of the girls bodies; some in close up, some in medium shot, others in long; but all in the one shot... it's exciting! I'll post you a link on email, and refer to a particular time and shot. Please check it out :)
Music: I mention this because you seem to be relying on it, and only it, to create mood in some instances - right at the end for example. The music doesn't match the cool-down of the sexual encounter, but does match the return to the bathroom scene. Unfortunately, it takes away from the former. Just remember the language, audio and visual should work in perfect harmony. P.S. I apologise for critiquing you on this, I no I've probably pissed you off in doing so, lol. I know how intelligent your music brain is Alis.

I have to be honest. I either don't watch or fast-forward through a lot of VT stuff these days. To me it all feels repetitive, it's all governed by rules and boxes being ticked, it feels forced, and it feels like it's being rolled off of an assembly line. Don't take it personally, it's happening over at SexArt too. These things these happen and you understand why so much better than I do... I don't blame you at all. You know I love and respect you like no other. That said, this grabbed my attention.
One, because you're finally working with Lexi. It's been a long time coming. This makes me really happy. I'm stoked to see Paula too. Next up is Alexis Crystal. I'm not sure if you've been watching her lately, but she's dynamite! She has a screen presence that's very close to rivalling Tracy's. Also. Some more Whitney please! We need her!!!!!
The second reason, and the more important one, is this got me excited about that idea you once had. A continuos story between two girls. Have you ever watched Tracy and Eufrat's collection as 'girlfriends'? If not, check it out. That's something I'd love to see you attempt. Your love for handheld would suit it perfectly, and you'd be shooting almost documentary style. I think you'd learn a lot in the process too, and I think it would help things to feel more REAL and a lot less staged.
Anyway. That's my two cents. That's what I want to see you do. I hope others will respond to this comment and get behind this idea, I feel it has a lot of potential. Two girls, continuos story. Let's make it happen. That would get me excited about VT again!

I'm always disheartened when I make a comment like that - genuinely trying to critique and help - and it goes unanswered/disregarded because it's "negative" (though this did get two "thumbs", which is reassuring). The main point I made regarding "sex as a set piece" is an extremely important one. It's why films like "Tarot - False" and "The Consultant" resonate, and why "Fire Dance", "JL Wall", "Like Waves" etc. fail to impress. Don't believe me? Watch a bad example I gave, followed by a good one - you'll notice a distinct difference in the quality of storytelling.

The first 9 minutes of film. Perfect. The rest though? Honestly… a little boring. The sex happened but the story and charm of everything (essentially, bar one crosscut) stagnated. You see it happen in poorly made action movies ALL the time, and there’s really no excuse for it. In erotica, the sex scene needs to be treated as a “set piece” – something that’s vital to the story, to the theme, the drama of the piece, and something that gives insight into the nature and development of the characters. You can literally watch the opening 9 minutes of this film, and then the last 2 and still get the same story. So… the sex scene doesn’t matter. It’s a real shame too, because the script is actually bloody good.
How could it have been improved? More regular crosscuts to Henessy and Gina. Simple. Really strongly juxtapose the couples. The major themes seem to be jealousy and unfulfilled desire. So let’s see Henessy and Gina’s reactions, and see what it means for their characters, their relationship and their motivations? Let’s see the tension, atmosphere and drama that this event creates between the couples and between each individual relationship. There’s so much potential in that, that this could have went from erotica in erotic film and even art.
Anyway… It’s something to consider. I really hope you guys take it on board, because it will help, I promise.
Alis – some stuff about the film, as well as stuff some stream of consciousness stuff too.
- I love the opening. There’s no mucking about with preludes and the obsessively long credits reel has been adapted and overlain onto the opening scene of the story. Immediately things are progressing and you’ve got me interested. This is something to repeat in the future.
- The framing of opening bath scene is spot on. The screen gets spilt in two vertically – on the left, a white wall, originally “dead space” that’s later filled by Zoe; on the right, Lena in the tub with Zoe’s reflection in the mirror. It’s basically the perfect example of how to frame. We have two stories occurring simultaneously, each one informing the psychology of the scene. Jon, Team A&A would benefit greatly from watching this, particularly because of the transition from “dead-space” to insight into what are central story motivations for Zoe’s character
- Environments. They’re getting better, still not close to what they should be, but they’re getting there. My advice. Don’t be afraid of mess!!! The best environment in the film was the bunk-bed room.
- Editing. Honestly… it’s the film’s weakest point – that came through very evidently in the “maid-dressing” scene. When you’re setting a scene, you’re kind of relying on cinematic manipulation for arousal with close-ups of breasts or panties, or whatever else. That’s not really what’s arousing though. What’s arousing is the situation and the atmosphere you create. Those are the things that stimulate the brain! So just relax a little. You’re situation and atmosphere were hot, so just put some faith in your actresses to give it life and make it feel true. That said. The eyes! Close up of eyes are always 110% welcome because emotion is in the eyes and that emotion is crucial to the setting of a scene.
- Score. I mentioned it last time so I won’t harp on, but it comes back to the same thing as above – cinematic manipulation. In the middle of the scene, did I really need that tender piano track to inform me as to the emotion of the girls? Nope. Their emotions were already coming through and if anything that track didn’t necessarily match those. It kind of hindered if anything. Again. Just have faith that your girls and their chemistry will create the atmosphere you need.
Stream of consciousness stuff.
I can still tell all of this is fake, and that’s not really a criticism… because I’ve truthfully only watched a very small collection of films (ever) that felt real. But if I think about those films: Blue is the Warmest Colour, Blue Valentine, Short Term 12, various excerpts of Malick’s work, and I think about why they felt real… I think it’s because they didn’t feel like films, if anything, they felt like documentaries. Everyone (director, cinematographer, editor, etc.) knows that what they need exists between their actors, and they kind of just, they’re like, conduits for them. They don’t need to be overly artistic or rely on film technique, cinematic manipulation, etc. They just need to sit in a corner and let things play out naturally. It’s patience I guess, where… you find those moments of spontaneity and serendipity and capture them… and it’s moving, and breathtaking and truthful and devoid of vanity. I don’t know. As I said Alis… stream of consciousness crap right here, lol. But it’s something to think about and consider I guess.
Second thing that comes to mind on this point is… if you haven’t already, you need to watch J. Zakari’s “Washed Away” over on TLE. I think technically, there’s a lot to gain from it for you as an artist (by the way I’ve already recommend you to J too), but mostly… I kinda feel like every time a model comes to your set, she needs to have done her research, and sat down and watched Lorena’s performance in that film. There’s a stillness, quietness, subtly to it, that’s, basically… it’s truthful. That’s it. It’s truthful. So yeah. Encourage them to watch it, engage with it and appraise it, cause if they can deliver something similar or close to it’ll go a long way. Also… Read the comments on that film. I found a lot of value in what J had to say. Something along the lines of “use a models ability within the confines of her capability” has stuck with me since, and I think that comes back to maybe why sometimes things don’t feel real in your films. Maybe because the model doesn’t have the acting capabilities for what you’re asking? I’m not sure. Again. Stream of consciousness stuff, please don’t take offence.
Umm… Last thing I guess, cause that’s kinda leading me down another tangent. You work and have worked with a lot of models, and I know that you have excellent relationships with essentially all of them. I guess what I’m getting at is… I think by now you would know which ones are genuinely into girls and which girls aren’t. I think, if VivThomas wants to be the “premier” lesbian site that I know it can be, we need to be selective and work with girls who like girls. That just seems to make sense, cause you know things are going to be genuine and that will allow you to shoot that doco style, like… you know, chemistry is guaranteed. So for example Tracy Lindsay, genuinely likes girls, has chemistry with Satin Bloom, Suzie Carina, Eufrat Mai, Lorena Garcia, Whitney Conroy, Amarna Miller, Misha Cross, Aiko Bell. Also:
Alexis Crystal – Lexi Dona, Uma, Margot, Whitney Conroy, Silvie Luca, Aiko Bell
Amarna Miller – Ariel Rebel, Samantha Bentley, Tracy Lindsay

I love the introduction - setting, camerawork, score - but I struggle to suspend disbelief, particularly because Leila's hurried, sexual motivations don't make a lot of sense to me, nor Cristal's reactions to them. Additionally, you've done the wine thing done before in Vol. 2, there it added layer and context to the (pre-)story, here it's just... there. I still can't bring myself to like the VT, "Nolan/Zimmer, score over 80% of the film so the audience knows how to feel" thing you've got going on either. Honestly, at the end of that introduction I was feeling pretty damn fervent, but then you overlay this languid, poignant, tender track and I'm... confused? emotionally confused? Now I know you hate reading that Alis - 99% of the time you get it spot on, and if ever I needed someone to score something for me, I'd come straight to you, cause I know you're the best - but I have to be honest with you, this VT music thing, it's not working for me. I'd much rather have my emotions come to me/evolve naturally, or at least at my discrepancy. When we look at the body too, obviously there's chemistry - a credit to Leila and Cristal and your team too for creating an environment conducive to that - but I kinda feel let-down. It's basically just Unplugged: Vol. 1 with the curtains drawn and a hitachi added into the mix - it lacks creativity and originality. I'm not sure what else to say...
I guess on a more positive note, I do wanna say that I've been tracking back through your SexArt discography - B/G stuff too, and I'm finding value in it, which should make you proud. It still holds up. It's still brilliant. Somewhere down the road, we're gonna look back on your work: Memento, Love For Sale, your Anthology Collections, Outlines, GLS, The Writer, Waltz With Me; a few standalones too: Stay, DoubleFace, Cumpleanos Feliz, Hors d'atteinte, My First, Slippery When Wet, Taylor and Sophie, J&J, The Contract, Parole Parole Parole, etc. and we're gonna say you did for Erotic Film what Hitchcock did for Suspense Thrillers.

I feel the same way about this as TRGO: Re. Throwbacks are cool, but I'm not seeing anything overly new. In light of Vol. 2 and 3.'s opening and 3's closing, the body is the only thing fresh and if I'm being honest, the connection feels untrue and I'm struggling to get through it. Nostalgia is evocative, but it's only going to get you so far. Abrams made the mistake of leaning on it far too heavily, I just hope you're not doing the same Alis. If I'm being even more honest too, both Reloads have felt like significantly lesser versions of their most recent SexArt counterparts. I guess the best way for me to play it is to reserve judgement until I've seen the whole series. Here's hoping and willing you on.

Hey Holmesy, I can download them too, but that means I have to watch the film on my computer, specifically using VLC. It's rather restrictive, particularly given that watching film on your computer kinda defeats the purpose of the cinematic experience.
I think you've read it with the wrong vain Kat. That's the trouble with the written word, you never really understand how it's been said. I understand that beneath the surface it could be read almost "threateningly" in a sense, and there certainly some pressure behind it, but petulant... and speaking of my character in such a way when we've never even had a conversation??? I don't really think so. Also, I wholly recognise, as I've made it clear before, that Rose isn't the "mail clerk" (as you would say), but she is the go-between for members and those in charge such things - it's unfortunate that also means dealing with comments such as mine above, but that's just how it goes. Rose knows me, she knows I respect her, and I think/hope she'd understand where I'm coming from. All the same, I'm sure she greatly appreciates your support, and I can certainly respect you sticking up for her given that you felt I'd done wrong by her.

I think you know how excited I have been for this release (and your Upcoming Heat: Re), but I can't honestly say that I was "taken" by it - it feels almost too familiar. I was hoping for a bit more of an overhaul and "reload", similar to the evolution from Vol. 1 to 2. Maybe though, my expectations are unreasonably high? Vol. 2 is my 2nd favourite 2015 film, so maybe that's a yes... In any case, this was still lovely and you're 100% on the right track, finding a medium between SexArt and VT. I'm growing more and more fond of VT Alis by the day. P.S. Nice Vol. 1 throwback with the pink toy :)
Is it a matter of "can't" or "it's easier this way"? Actually, you know, that's not really a question because I already know it is possible, Alis (extremely kindly) once did it for me with LFS(1), and Team Lupin did it quite capably on Secrets of Prague.
Anyway, let me get to the point. I think you already know my opinion on subtitles and I know I speak for the larger community too when I say we want them hardcoded to the download file. Having asked numerous times before but to no avail, I'm basically at a point now where I feel like it might be worthwhile pissing people off to the point where, for my benefit and for benefit of the larger community... we get what we want. Now that position is an unsavoury one, it goes against my character and I really don't want to do it, but... that seems like the only move I've got left, so... can we please just avoid that and make the change ASAP?
Some honest feedback, I apologise that some of it is a bit harsh:
- The opening credits are too long and too boring, I'm already losing interest before the film "per-say" has even begun. Something needs to change. Speed them up, do away with them, maybe do something Bond-esque, where they're overlayed onto a shot sequence - that's probably my pick, but its up to you. I just think somehting really needs to change
- Great storytelling, I think voiceover is a more than viable way to overcome the "dialogue" issue, and I like it, cause, you know... Malick :)
- A little overacted at times. This is what I mean when I say we as the audience want "truth". We can feel when somethings out of place, and a great deal of these moans and groans were out of place
- Ass-fingering, as least to me, is not nearly as attractive as analingus. Here it seems completely out of place, looking awkward, rather than sexy
- The Locanta-editing trap was present in this film. Too many static shots of heads, connected to pussies, connected by the occasional pan from one-to-the-other, always the same angle. There's a filmmaker brand new to the MetNetwork who just had his sophomore release on TLE. It's with Lorena, titled Jewels. I found his angles and panning incredibly intriguing and erotic. If you have time, and would wish to, I'd recommend checking it out

I know it's not my place to chime in here, and I wouldn't do it unless I felt something positive could be taken from it, so here goes.
Alis, I understand your response - it's not the result of one incident but numerous which have caused you to eventually boil over. I'm empathic, you've been shown disrespect and I think your response is more than justified... that doesn't mean "parts" of it are "right" however - you have insulted mimi's intelligence.
mimi, you need to consider the fact that you insulted Alis to begin with. You also need to consider the fact that you have done it to other members before, myself included, numerous times. What makes it worse is that you initiate without context. This is the first time Alis has ever conversed with you, and my third time. We've never said a bad word against you, so what we've done to deserve your insults confuses me and I'm sure Alis too.
_fer, Alis didn't get caught on "silly" if anything he got caught on "boring", which is again justified - though not necessarily "right", as above. You are right however, about there being something in mimi's original comment...
Alis. What I've noticed about your work - very much like Nolan's - is PATTERNS... and I'd hazard a guess that you liked/were an astute mathematics student during your schooling. The problem with patterns is that often you get caught up in being too precise, or perhaps more appropriately, too formulaic - your VT work in particular feels that way. There's certainly been some change for the better since your beginning and I know you'll continue to develop with time, but it's something to think about. Repetition is boring and too much of anything is too much.
I think where you could improve most as a filmmaker would be in your ability to relax and "relinquish your control". There are instances where I can literally see your mind composing a film as I watch it. I can see you discussing what you want with your models before you call "action"; I can see you calling "cut" and redirecting them; I can see their minds clocking over, thinking, "is this right?"; and I see the uncertainty in their eyes. Now, this doesn't happen all the time, when you work with experienced models, models you are familiar with: Alexa, Mango, Amarna, etc. its different. But with the vast majority of girls you've worked with for VT, I can feel it.
I guess what I'd ask is that, in relaxing a little, you try to find those moments of spontaneity, those moments of reality and truth. Encourage your models to find their character, or themselves, and inject it into their role. I think the best way, or the best thing you could do to refine that skill, would be to:
a) watch "Our Movie" directed by Sophie and Stella
b) repeat that process with a couple like Amarna and Tracy
c) watch Malick, always watch Malick ;)
Just watch the way these girls "naturally" interact and do your best to replicate that. It's about truth, finding truth, and particularly in erotica, if that doesn't exist, then there's no use. And that extends into things like kissing and cuddling and licking. If a girl can't truthfully kiss, cuddle or lick another girl with warmth, energy, passion, enjoyment... we'll feel it.
Anyway. I think I've said enough. I hope it's of some assistance Alis. And by the way... I'm incredibly excited for TRGO (RE), it's gonna be awesome!!!!!!!

I criticized ONE technique that Andrej is using wrongly and referred to his work as "otherwise beautiful, romantic, realistic, respectable, palpable, well-constructed work". I also compared his "entertainment" brand of cinema to the likes of Cameron, Jackson and Spielberg. I may have criticized ONE small, (tiny actually when you look at it's place in the ENTIRE toolbox) piece of his work, but the compliments... the compliments show the incredible respect I have for him! I'm not sure why you missed this?
In regards to me being a professional director, I'm not. But you need to understand that you don't need to have to have gone to film school, anyone with enough money and a film under their belt can call themselves a professional director. Also, just because someone isn't a director, doesn't mean they aren't allowed to critique a film, I mean... what was Roger Ebert doing for the best part of 50 years? Film critique is recognised as a viable, paid job.
In regards to being arrogant. I wouldn't call myself naturally arrogant in any way, but sure, I can be and I reflect on it and I try to improve. It's not a trait any of us like, or want to have, but everyone has it to some degree, or least moments of it, because it's embedded in the human consciousness. I find that I often mix arrogance with passion and that obviously came through here... I'll try to be better.

I totally hear what you're saying fer_, it's just that, I don't know... I guess that with regard to film in particular, I appreciate and respect artistic decisions that are made with artistic purpose and utilised to enhance theme and concept visually - and that's what Alis did here.
Every filmmaker should be studying the works of Malick (in particular), Kubrick, Inarritu, Fincher, Aronofsky, Cuaron, Lubezki (cinematographer) and even Alis, BECAUSE they're VISUAL storytellers who know their toolbox very intricately - they understand when, how, and for what reason to use various shots and techniques. This is why I can't watch Andrej's movies over at SexArt. Those peeping shots through stairs or rails, and those panning/peeping shots moving behind walls into the room... ARTISTICALLY these convey VOYEURISM and it's UNINTENTIONAL. Ariel reasons they add depth of field to a shot... well, there are many other ways to do that (camera type, aperture, focusing distance, etc.) without constantly making the audience like a voyeur. Why don't I want to feel and be constantly reminded I'm a voyeur? Well medically, voyeurism is defined, roughly, as a "disorder" wherein a person observes (with no intent to participate) and derives pleasure from the sexual acts of another, unbeknownst to them. To me that seems rather sleazy, almost creepy. Does that feeling fit their work? Their otherwise beautiful, romantic, realistic, respectable, palpable, well-constructed work? Certainly not. What does it come down to? Andrej failing to fulling grasp the ARTISTIC meaning of his shots and techniques.
Anyway, my rant is done. The whole point of this is basically to say - if an ARTIST is using ARTISTIC techniques with ARTISTIC purpose, I think you should let him. If an ENTERTAINER is using ARTISTIC techniques because they "LOOK COOL" then I feel it's NECESSARY to criticize and question them on it. And... Just to clarify, James Cameron does the latter, so does Peter Jackson, so does Spielberg, amongst many other incredible directors, Andrej included. And to clarify also, I'm not taking a stab, I'm just commenting on what I see and how I think FILMMAKERS (in general) can improve within their field. To summarise. ART. ART. ART... "Birdman" and less "Ignorance".

fer_, consider the "reflections" a "reflection" of the lucidity of the dream state. This is Alis we're talking about, every technical decision is made with artistic reasoning so that he can portray his story and concept visually - this is the very nature of the filmic form, and a clear indication of Alis' distinguished understanding of it. Personally, I'm EXTREMELY glad Alis is bringing these elements to VT... it's been some time since I've seen Erotic Film.

I have seen After Eden! It was a rather poor quality online stream, but enough to see it, understand it's story and characters and engage with it in a thematic sense. I really liked the film! I found it to be quite stylistic, almost in a Winding-Refn way - great use of colour and contrast, dynamic cinematography and a unique soundtrack. I'm hoping to get my hands on better quality soon :)
And yes. I've been following your artsy work since Jealousy(2) and Haute Couture over at SexArt. As soon as I found out you were shooting with Alis for VT, I was praying he would pair you with Mango again - from the chemistry and sensitivity you portrayed together on-screen, I could tell you had a very true and special connection. This is Alis' best output yet. It's recognisable as distinctly yours, yet I can see all the little things you've learnt at SexArt coming to fruition in a very unique and fresh VT-style. I want to praise your montage mix of jump-cuts and dissolve transitions as a representation of time (and memory) lapse. Utilising film-technique in a thematic sense such as this is the intelligent filmmaking I've come EXPECT from you. Conceptually I found links to Memento, and your score flirted that perfect line between melancholy and celebration. On a nostalgic level also, I loved seeing that TRGO(2)-style lighting again. It wasn't AS well handled here, but it still evoked a sense of awe in me. Watching those shadows dance upon the bodies of the actresses and their environment (as if characters in their own right) was something both beautiful and magical.
With regard to improvements:
- I'm glad to see our girls talking, but their was a LOT more potential here. Alyssa is an accomplished actress - I'm sure you're aware of her work in After Eden. The SOCIAL aspect of sex is often missed in MetArt films - to their detriment I might ass.. when you have the opportunity and the actress(es), be sure to encourage and utilise their talents to full effect.
- Don't, don't, DON'T be afraid to pair girls you've paired before. Familiarity is CRITICAL to sex. EMOTION and SPIRITUALITY are also major components of meaningful, fulfilling sex - you know this, you directed The Heat Anthology!!! Get Lorena and Tracy, Alexa and Julia, Amarna and Ariel, Iwia and Dido, get them back together! Pair Alexis and Lexi, Margot and Whitney, Samantha and Misha, Ivana and Sabrina, etc. etc! If you want to make "moving" erotica, you need meaningful, "moving" connections. RARELY will those be found in actresses working together for the first time.
That's all :) I know I can be harsh at times Alis, but you know me, you know what my words mean and my intent behind them - better than anyone. I measure you against a) your own talent and b) the best filmmakers of our age. Even if my feedback is negative, remember who I'm comparing you too - that in itself, at least in my eyes, is a compliment.

Much, MUCH better. The feedback I'd give is this:
- Great prelude - Alis, you know what I mean by that. I have to be honest though, I still catch myself thinking, "just hurry up and start already". A negative thought like this right at the start of the film unfortunately colours your opinion of it from then-on. I'd reference Nolan's introductions (or lack thereof) as my own personal favourite. They're the least self-serving, throwing you right into the action! Obviously it's going to work differently for every film, but perhaps it's something to consider?
- I can't stand .srt's. As a director, you either want subtitles on your film, or you don't. They either serve the story, or they don't. Hard-coding or leaving them off entirely, should, in my opinion, be the ONLY 2 options. .srt's an afterthought and they also limit an audience's viewing options. Anyway... that's me talking nicely about .srt's... I think you get my point. The only film I'll ever advocate an .srt (the option to turn on and off) for is Victoria (2015) - the reason being that watching that film without (the intended) subtitles actually embeds you the confusional state of it's central character and in turn adds the storyline and themes of the film. ONLY time I'll ever support .srt's.
- From your actresses you need to elicit something that's less of a performance and more of a natural chemistry and desire. [Erotica will only move you if you 'feel' it] - remember this! I think you need to take close note of which girls work well together. The best 4-scene piece VT has released since the MetArt takeover is The Gym. Why? Genuine attraction and chemistry, genuine lesbian tendencies and love-making, a lot... of 'feeling'. P.S. Amarna and Ariel Rebel.

Gina, I love Tracy too and I think that she's arguably the best girl/girl performer working today, so I agree with everything you've said.
I think you bring up an interesting idea in your second dot point, and it's something I've been thinking about for some time. Does every scene need to have explicit sex in it? Personally, I don't think it does. What I'd love to see is a story driven narrative that plays out over 4 or more scenes, with one or more of those being dedicated directly to story and character development. It would make the pay-off of a sex scene down the track all the more emotional and compelling anyway. Obviously you'd need to work with the best of the best: Tracy, Lorena, Mango, Amarna, but I feel it's something to VERY STRONGLY consider.
Alis, I have a very old piece that I believe accomplishes the above. Let me know if you'd like me to send it on. Whether it becomes something or is simply used as a reference really doesn't bother me, I'm only looking to help :)

Just in regards to these ‘Day in the Life – Moment’ pieces your making… I think they need a lot of work. The situations and dialogue are too contextually incomplete, seeming random and lacking any real direction. If you haven’t spent enough time with a story and a set of characters, then you really struggle to invest in them – and that’s how I feel, I honestly don’t care about anything in these films, especially this one. I know it’s harsh, but it’s the truth.
Now how do you address this? In my mind there’s three ways:
1. You remove the dilly dallying completely, go somewhat Guy-style and you just film a sex scene
2. You give more AND/OR simpler AND/OR precise context to the story and characters. As a reference point I’d suggest looking at ‘I Dream of Jo: Vol. 1, Part 4’ with Jo and Brandy – skip the opening and watch from 1:59.
3. You spend more time with the story and characters (like, 4 full episodes for example) and make me want to invest in what’s going on
As a few random notes too, I’d add:
• Relaxing on your score a little, I believe, will bring a more natural, authentic feel to your work at VT
• I still can’t go for that eye make-up, it’s just… not for me… at all
• I really want you to concentrate on bringing your VT work into the real world

It's not a question of the directorial effort that goes into the content, because we're well aware of Alis' passion and commitment. Instead, it's of the (sub)-PAR content being released BECAUSE OF an overly demanding production schedule - multiple films/day is absurd. Much to his discontent, I get the feeling even Alis knows his work is to a set standard given the time constraints. Free him up and his work, artistically, would improve - it's that simple. Isn't that what we want anyway? Something meaningful, beautiful, truthful and lasting? Something more than just a means for curt satisfaction? I really feel for the Alis the artist right now, because were I in his position, I'd be ready to grotesquely murder this Birdman (all contextual weight and meaning intended) and start producing work reflective of my potential.

I want to see you push your cinematography further and in a more considered/meaningful direction. You've been shooting in fairly consistent "styles", and as such the "look" of your films is starting to meld into each other. They're different stories, tackling different ideas; so you need to ask yourself - what is the theme or emotion I'm trying to portray, and how can I best visually portray it?
A film such as Shame for example speaks an "unblinking truth" (long continuos takes) about sexual addiction, while a film such as Knight of Cups speaks of the "constantly evolving" (montage) nature of memory.
You already know this of course, but I need you to keep it in the forefront of your mind. I also know you're shooting your tail off, and I do understand it's a matter of quantity not quality at the moment - I seriously hope the high-ups radically reconsider this approach soon - but try your best :)

Some quick notes before I go and watch Knight of Cups.
- If you want a script to come to life in the most realistic way, you work with talent, and that’s exactly what you’ve done here. Well done Silvie and Tracy
- Off topic and on the subject of Tracy, I absolutely adore that bob cut. It’s carries this perfect mix of femininity and boyish charm that’s so uniquely Tracy. It’s the best I’ve ever seen her look and that’s truly saying something
- On the subject of Silvie, wonderful casting! This role, particularly that of scene one, suited her personality perfectly. Considerate casting such as this goes a LONG way.
- Also in relation to Silvie, kudos Mariana on Silvie’s prelude. The only other time she’s looked that damn good was when Rita worked with her on Outlines
- To these preludes you keep including Alis, the thing I’d ask you is this – what are they doing besides serving as a pre-credits intro? If we examine your famous SexArt postludes, rarely would we find one that didn’t extend, subvert or layer concept and theme. Basically… Let’s try do more with your preludes
- Just on the whole VivThomas lingerie, stockings, garters-thing, I’m not feeling it, at least not in realistic sense. When you relate them to the age of the actresses/characters and the stories being told, they just don’t fit for me. I understand traditions, but film is about telling truths and that comes first in my mind. The truth is sexier any way, don’t you think?
- Lastly, this film almost says something… almost, which means you’re heading in the right direction. The thing I’d caution you about (before it happens) is this: now that you’re working with dialogue, don’t rely too heavily on it to convey your content. Film is a visual medium. Those who understand it… speak visually. SexArt-Locanta appreciated this on the same level as Hitchcock, Kubrick and Malick, and turned disadvantage (the inability to include dialogue) into SUPREME advantage. Don’t go backwards, make sure you’re using both.

P.S. Is it true Silvie is no longer acting?
I'm certain if I were to stick with this, it would redeem itself and be a beautiful film, however your introduction does not make me want to stick with this. I adore your work both in front and behind the camera, and think you're an extremely talented lady and beacon for VivThomas moving forward, but... for my liking, that introduction has completely objectified Brandy. We get wonderful views of her legs and feet, her hands, her tummy, her bum, her breasts and even her pussy in that introduction - what we sadly don't get though is a clear view of her eyes and face until roughly the 4 minute mark. If I was in club and someone looked at my body for that long without caring about my eyes and face, I'd be rather inclined to confront them about it. Unless I've missed a distinct artistic reasoning behind your decision to do this, I'd ask that you not repeat this. Instead, look to the wonderful and considerate way in which you introduced Stacy in this same scene.
Keep pushing Sandra :) What we've seen so far is only the tip of the iceberg of what you're capable of.

I'm not sure if it's a conscious decision or not, but your opening-credits are presented against normal convention. Personally, I feel they should be typically sequenced:
[Name of Studio] Presents - VivThomas.com Presents
A [Name of Production Company] Production - A MetArt Films Production
A(n) [Name of Director] Film - An Alis Locanta Film
Starring [Name of Actors/Actresses] - Starring Lola and Taylor Sands
[Film Title] - My Sweet Diary - Episode 4
Call me old fashioned, but it's how I've always seen it done and how I believe it should be done. Outside of reserving, Starring [Name of Actors/Actresses] and particularly [FIlm Title] - as you know, this can be used to immense thematic effect, I see no artistic purpose in rearranging opening credits anyway. That said, I particularly like the font, colour and femininity of the opening credits on this film.
Also, outside of Taylor's 'sexual diary sequences' - simply for the fact that these are imagination, your locations and costuming don't suit the story or it's characters.
The physical spaces these characters inhabit need to accurately portray the story being told and additionally, mirror the interior of the protagonist, i.e. Taylor's writing 'secrets' in her diary... Put her in her dimly lit bedroom at night, and lets make the sheets and duvet purple - to represent those secrets. Also, put a desk in there, with books and stationary and what not, so that we know she really is studying and has just finished exams. Let's also put some cosmo mags in there and scatter some clothes/shoes/make-up around too. What are her interests? Etc. In terms the environment in which you have her instead, I'm getting nothing Alis. No atmosphere, no sense of reality, no truth. Also, shooting in close up, or at the very least, using a medium shot would have bettered suited Taylor's 'diary writing sequences'. Taylor's sharing intimacies and secrets, your camera needs to visually portray that.
In terms of the costuming... I like the dress, I dislike the leather jacket (it clashes with the vibe of the the dress entirely) and I REALLY dislike the g-string. Taylor needs to be wearing girly, youthful hipsters, bikinis or boyshorts - which I think suit Taylor's personality best
Anyway, this writing is getting particularly messy. Basically Alis, I respect you, you know that, and I know you're your own person and director, and as far as I'm concerned you're free to do whatever you darn well choose... but I really do hope you'll consider what I've written.

This is the g/g stuff of dreams. Don and Lorena, congrats, you've both come a long way since your SexArt origins together, this rivals (and betters some) of the work of Alis and Andrej. I'd actually go so far as to say that, next to Mango on Location, After Hours - Caliginosity, Goodbye My Love - Accede and The Gym, this 'might' be the best g/g VT has produced since it became a part of the MetNetwork. You should both feel immensely proud of yourselves. This was a delight, a joy, and damn lot of fun :)
Two points of feedback:
- Keep your cam/mic out of the frame (17:45 roughly), lol
- Obviously your editing has improved a ton, but... be careful not to overdo it. Too many cuts tells me I'm watching a movie, and yes, I'm watching a movie, but in regards to erotica, I want to be deceived into believing it's real. Watch something like 'Blue' or 'Short Term 12' and you'll notice the relaxed, languid editing - it's that editing that adds to the authenticity of the film, and it's the authenticity of those films that then makes them so moving. Sure, you can go the other end of the spectrum, and develop something with a ton of dynamic cuts that's intended as pure escapism, but you'll notice that stuff is mostly reserved for action-oriented film, and I can't say I've ever been even remotely moved by an action film. Basically, work to your genre

The strengths here are in the filmmaking and writing - it's the best to date. Unfortunately I'm still not moved by the connection on screen and it really does pain me to say it, but I found myself fast-forwarding through the 'action' just to engage with the storyline. Alis, what you need is an 'Unplugged' moment. That was where you began to find and elicit those connections over at SexArt, maybe you can replicate it here for VT.
On where to improve:
Environment. I've mentioned it before, so I don't feel I need to harp on. All I'd ask is that you take another look at Henessy's room and note what you do and don't FEEL when you look at it. It's the difference between green screen and practical effects, particularly for the actors and the audience.
Score. I'm still on the cusp about this scoring. I think... if I felt the emotions of these actresses, I'd support it. However, because I'm not feeling those, I feel like I'm being told to feel a certain way and it's actually frustrating me. It's almost like you might have to scale back your artistic expression. It's a difficult one Alis, really difficult... especially because I know how close this subject is to your heart. On the score itself though, were it stand-alone I'd really like it. And as far as vocals go, you're selecting appropriate, evocative piece. So... now I'm confused too.
That's it. I think more than anything Alis, I just want you to get those connections happening. Utilise what already exists, and as far as new connections go, is there any chance you can send out a 'who would you like to work with?' invitation? You could always have a look at Rose's interviews too. Sorry, I'm really blabbering now. I need rest... Night :)
I really like this. You can tell Sandra has a great respect for her time with Viv, and for the legacy he created. If I'm Viv I couldn't think of a greater compliment than to have inspired my models to carry that on.

The greatest compliment I can give this is that it's feminine, natural and most importantly, emotional, and for that reason I feel connected to the story and it's characters. I haven't felt that way since... Alis' Memento, I think. I want to congratulate you on that :) My advice is to improve upon, and use those three elements as a driving force in your films moving forward.
Where could you improve?
- With a greater degree dialogue. It doesn't have to be English, all that matters is that the girls speak to each other. It conveys a sense of familiarity and thus realism.
- By better controlling your sound-recording. I understand the difficulties given the location, but it doesn't make for even viewing when certain shots are louder than others, or affected by the wind or surroundings, creating 'clunks' and 'scrapes'. There has to be a way to overcome this.
- Just as a note, when you're shooting through things in the foreground (i.e. the vines), it's important that those shots remain fixed - not moving. I noticed one instance where the shot moved. What this does is immediately establish a sense of voyeurism, which, if not suited, cheapens the scene in a sort of perverse (for lack of a gentler word) way.
Lastly, I just want to thank you Sandra for your years as a model, for your relationship with Viv and for the wonderful works you created together. I'd also add how awesome it is to have you carrying on Viv's legacy. Oh, and I love that you love LEGS! Please more and more legs in future shoots :)

Technically, this is quite sound, though I have some thoughts on a couple of things, but for me… the biggest issue I had with this is that I didn’t feel anything regarding the connection on screen. I didn’t feel desire or hunger or heat… passion… anything… I just wasn’t moved. I wasn’t convinced these two had chemistry. I’m not sure, maybe that’s ‘kind of’ the point, this being a ‘First Time Story’, but I don’t think it is.
Alis, while your Erotic Film has these psychological, emotional, thematic and/or conceptual elements that allow it to stand up, despite a lack of pure chemistry (I’d use your work with Silvie Luca as an example); with this VT-style erotica your making, you’re basically being stripped bare… and without pure chemistry these films are going to struggle to succeed.
I can see you’re already trying to add depth, purpose and meaning to these films, and that’s certainly one way to solve this, the other way, or should I say, complementary way is to utilise also, performer connections you’ve already seen generate fire, i.e. Amarna & Ariel, Tracy & Lorena, Alexa & Julia, etc. I have a ‘Pairings’ doc. that I’ve been putting together since PTMA: Vol. 4 - it’s only small, because I’m extremely critical of pure connections, but if you’d like, I’d be happy to share that with you. I’d also add to this, that what you told me about last time we spoke on email, is something you should really push for! Re-using those connections time and time again will pay dividends in the long run! Viv of course did this with Sandy, Sophie, Sandra, Stella, etc. All these girls worked incredibly well together and he did not hesitate to pair them again and again. He should have paired them even more if you ask me!
As to my other points…
This, like ‘One Small Step’ is missing story and context and again, because of this I’m struggling to invest in it. I’d really like to see you writing well-thought stories and characters with depth and arc. That film I told you to watch some time ago, TBoW, is a fairly good example of what I’m expecting. You can of course do better than that however. I understand there are limits, particularly because you’re working with girls who speak fairly primitive English, but you could always work with an All Spanish or All Czech cast and provide subtitles. Foreign film is something that has always intrigued me anyway.
The music. I know this one’s going to be hard to read, and Alis, if ever I was scoring a film, you’d be the first person I’d ask for help, but… I haven’t liked what I’ve heard so far with these 2 releases. This is too Nolan/Zimmer, and by that I mean, TOO MUCH score. The music is TELLING me how to feel, as opposed to providing context and letting me interpret things at will. There’s certainly value to the subtle manipulation of emotions, but as soon as I’m being told how to feel, I feel like it’s gone too far. I’d like things to feel and develop a bit more organically.
And that brings me to my last point, and that’s the notion of naturalism. Now, I’m honestly not sure which way to go with this one, but here’s my thoughts… With erotic film, I’d go for a Kubrick-like approach, where you’re entering an escapist realm of dreams, emotions and psychology… an alternate reality. Why? Because there you’re venturing into the deep anyway, and by that I mean, into your mind, which itself is capable perceiving and contemplating abstract ideas and thought. With erotica however, I feel it’s much more superficial, and for that reason I think it needs to reflect and represent a certain kind of vérité.
Why do I bring this up, well, mainly because of environments, though it applies to every aspect of filmmaking. In this film we have perfect, unspoiled, clean environments with virtually no personalised character to it. As far as reality goes it’s quite difficult to fathom. Now, I can understand perhaps, that their hotel/house/vacation spot would be relatively clean, but even still. An environment tells so much, SO MUCH… so I really want you contemplating how you’re going to improve it for the future.

Ah, ok, yes... I'm very familiar with an open-ending, because I love incomplete context. It allows the viewer to colour, personalise and complete a story according to THEIR perception.
If you're interested Talia, I'd highly recommend a Steven Knight/Tom Hardy film, titled 'Locke', it is perhaps my favourite example of a purposefully incomplete context - if you look into how the film was shot too, it will really blow your mind!
What I was referring to specifically was an 'omitted ending' and an incomplete narrative, such as in The Empire Strikes Back. Now let me establish that it's one of my favourite films, but I can't ignore that one major flaw. Wait til you see Ep VII, you'll understand what I mean. According to interviews, Abrams goal with this film was to create something that could both stood alone (and be fulfilling on it's own), whilst also jump starting the new trilogy. That's what I was trying to point out.
The issue I had with this was there wasn't enough context, background, character development etc. for me to really want to invest in the story and fill in the gaps. If I'm going to truly connect and engage with the story and it's characters, I need time. So Alis, more storytelling :)

As to your comment about something that has an ending omitted, I'm genuinely curious, would you be able to name something for me, so I take a look at it? I've actually never come across that sort of thing before, but I'd like to see how it works, and if the artistic purpose of the piece still sits and has power, or even, if in fact, is enhanced by that omitted ending.

Now in appraising this scene, I've pointed out it's weaknesses because I feel it's an important part in providing constructive criticism. I could be a 'yes man', but If I don't point them out, how will you know what didn't hit it's mark, how will you know where to improve? Sure self-evaluation/reflection is great, but it can only get you so far, you need people with objective opinions to tell you. Otherwise, you think you're doing things right and you never adapt or evolve, and you never improve.
As annoying as I might be at times Rose, I'm here to help you improve BECAUSE I respect you. It takes a lot of time and effort to provide this kind of feedback. Do you think I'd be prepared to put this much time and effort into people I didn't respect/admire? I'm not trying to bring you down, I'm trying to build you up!
Rose, I'm sensing some annoyance... I set my expectations high with hopes/aspirations they can be achieved. I know you love Paul Black. Do you think he'd be happy with a film that is anything less than 99.9% perfect? I'm only offering constructive criticism to help those involved achieve that standard. I was watching a couple of scenes from Interstellar earlier tonight, and there was some fairly ordinary writing in amongst it - I mean, "we used to look up and wonder about our place in the stars, now we just worry about our place in the dirt"... seriously Nolan, seriously?

I agree about the rather abrupt, 'shall we put our clothes back on?', _fer_. That is however my only gripe with the film - some snuggling for 2-3 min would certainly have been nice, and added even more realism, before finally putting those clothes back on. But I mean c'mon, girlies just went 25mins without 'cuts'... I can forgive them. A scene like this takes serious skill to shoot, from everyone involved! And while it might not look like that camera is doing much, it's doing everything!
Which reminds me - hell yes to keeping legs and feet in the frame, and hell yes to going out of the way to wander down and shoot them!!! VivThomas rejoice! :)
I just fell in love with you! I've been waiting and waiting... and this is it! Perhaps you remember all that time ago when I said, "you don't need to demonstrate any real artistry with your camerawork and editing, you just need to use camerawork and editing to demonstrate the artistry of chemistry on screen", this is what I meant, exactly what I meant. In fact... looking back at that comment on Holiday - Scene 4... I feel like we just had a moment :)
Now... for a whole heap of blabbing. I hope there will be something you can take away from it.
I grew up watching erotica, specifically SapphicErotica, and I won't lie, I watched quite a bit of it. In it's prime (2004-2006/7) SapphicErotica produced material very similar to this - minimal/no editing, with a pure focus on realism, chemistry and true lesbianism with the likes of Rene, Nella, Lisa, etc. Unfortunately post 2007 its quality declined. They were editing too heavily, using way too many close ups, and it had this very nasty, masculine feel to it. Add to that the fact that now, the majority of girls they were featuring showed very little genuine interest in girls, and it just spiralled downhill. I lost interest in erotica.
Now I watched a couple of things here and there between about 2008 and the launch of SexArt, and these were mostly scenes shot by Tammy Sands or Holly Randall, who to this day, continue to shoot the occasional... beautiful, feminine film. But it's very occasional.
I truly rediscovered my interest when SexArt launched, with the likes of Bo and Andrej, and for about a year my interest in erotica had peaked again. And then... something happened. I discovered Alis Locanta, who introduced me to Erotic Film, and reinvented the wheel. I always, always had a passion for film and enjoyed delving into every aspect it and learning from it and about it. And that's exactly what Alis made me do, but in the process, he taught me something... Sex is in the Brain! But you know what, once he taught me this, I stopped caring for erotica again, my interest waned...
Then MetArt bought VivThomas, and I began watching a few of Viv's films. They reminded me very much of the old SapphicErotica films I used to watch, and it is was such a nostalgic experience! I was finally watching beautiful erotica again! And then we had Team A&A come in and try their hand, and to be honest, they made decent erotica, but I wasn't sold... And then in you come Guy, and I know it's been a really big learning process for you, and you've certainly had some great films along the way, but this one, 'Don't Stop, this is your best!
And after watching this... I think I know what makes erotica special, at least, to me. If Erotic film, is about sex being in the brain, then erotica is about sex being in the heart. It's a nostalgic thing, full of romance, and beauty, and real passion, and it makes you feel pretty, and gorgeous and makes you hold on to something about that moment... that session for which you were making love. I guess you could say it's an emotional thing.
So why did this make me feel it in my heart? Well, because it's so real! From Tiffany using the bathroom, to Henessy checking her phone, to the communication that happens throughout, to the cute coughing from Henessy when she is sitting on Tiffany's face. I could feel their emotions, because I understood them and had felt them before. And the fact that this NEVER stopped. I mean, it just doesn't get any more real than this. And I feel like this is exactly what you're going for. REAL!!!!
Guy, I just love it, I do, I do, I do!!!! This gives me so much hope for what's to come!!!
Now, to stop the blabbing, some more feedback :) Ok. So, I loved the camerawork, that really languid, slowly moving camera. It didn't have the jerkiness I've seen before and disliked. I loved that you were sitting back, using those long shots, it's important, because otherwise things start to feel invasive, and masculine. I never want to feel like I'm part of the action, I only ever want to watch two beautiful women share in a truly beautiful session of lovemaking. But... I do think you can try a few more things :) But it will be a matter of experimentation. So, lets' see how it will feel and look and work if you do go in for a few, and just a few TREASURED close-ups. Let's see you wander over different parts of the body IBDS style, so we get an incredible appreciation for aspect of the girls physical beauty. Just experiment a little more. I'll be sure to let you know what works and doesn't :)
Umm... Just a random thought. I loved the story here. It's really simple, but story is just so important. If erotica (not Erotic Film) simply starts with two people already having sex, I'm disinterested. I need that backstory, I need some characters. I need to care about what's going on, and again, that's that thing I said about erotica being in the heart.
Anyway, this is so all over the place, and my words are horrible, and my thoughts scattered... I think I should just stop. All you need to know is this is perfect. Everything here is perfect, perfect, perfect, and I'm totally in love with this film! Definitely use this as a reference for future projects!!!!
Oh, one last thing, this is what I mean about lived-in environments being the way to go :) Again, they just add so much realism.
Oh, and also, I'm genuinely excited about what you're going to do with EWS. If it's anything like this, it will be unreal!!!!!
Oh, also. Congrats Tiffany and Henessy. That would have taken some serious skill!!!! So much respect right now :)

This is actually amazing... like, it's ridiculous how amazing this is! The last time I remember watching something like this, and remember being moved in this way, was with my first experience of Blue is the Warmest Colour.
This just feels lived in. So real, so authentic... I felt connected to the environment(s), to the girls, to their emotions, everything felt so tangible. I felt like I was breathing in that world! And that's, it's just amazing. There was such a pure, languid pacing... all conventions of what we expect from 'porn' were broken here... everything just took a back seat to the love story, and to be honest there wasn't a false note anywhere. And that's such a rare achievement. This is like, mimesis and anti-mimesis all at once. It's just so powerful! And god... all credit to your actresses. Obviously Leila did a fantastic job, but I have to give major props to Carolina. I could 'feel' everything through her, and it was all in her emotion, her delivery, that was true acting right there.
I honestly don't know what else to say. Only that this tops 'After Hours (1)', and that it rivals the absolute best of SexArt, and yet, has it's own VT identity. This is a killer step forward! Please use this film as your benchmark Guy. Everything from here in on should be built around what worked here. But don't stop there, push further, I know you can :) Keep up the incredible work!!!!!!!

Hmm. I 'kind of' agree. It's not amateurish, (Guy is a professional), and there certainly is creativity, (it's Guy). I think the crux of the problem lies with us (me specifically) in that I'm just not sure I get or like this 'guerilla' style of shooting - It's too primitive and harsh, and unsuited to romantic chemistry of VivThomas. The only scene of Guy's to genuinely 'move' me so far is 'After Hours - Caliginosity'. And that's more a credit Rose's opening dialogue and to the actresses and their romantic chemistry, than it is their director. Sorry Guy.
Perhaps... and I'm speculating, there is a larger issue at hand - what is VivThomas? and more importantly, how is it different to SexArt? I think that's been the biggest issue since MetArt took over - the labels are somewhat similar, and Jon is trying to differentiate the two. And unfortunately I think VivThomas is suffering a little because it's afraid to be similar... I can understand the conundrum, because there's no use of having two sites which do the same thing. It's a tough one!
My thoughts would be to go back, reassess what makes VT... VT, look at the 'type' of scenes/series he makes and work within that frame while adding ones own spin.
- Films - a singular story (generally with heightened-reality/fantasy elements) told in 3-6 scenes [not all movies have to have 4 scenes], such as The Sole Collector, Sirens, I Love Jo
- Series - anthology style (such as what your currently shooting), or ongoing, such as 'Unfaithful'
- Candid Collections - a behind the scenes collection of scenes, shot by the girls while they shoot for a particular film
- Documentaries - 'The Return of Sandy' - arguably one of VivThomas finest productions, giving insight into the models, the art of filmmaking, on location access, etc.
I think the biggest difference between SexArt and VT is that SexArt is Film - it's designed to educate, inform, enlighten. VT is hmm... Stories (TV) and Candid Access. The stories are designed simply to intrigue and keep you watching, with an emphasis on character and romance. There is no real 'artistic thought' behind them, if themes exist, they develop naturally. The second, that's something I always valued about VT, and something that doesn't really work for SexArt, except in GLS. Here it's part of VT's culture that we get to know the girls, and the relationships they have with each other on and off the screen. It makes whatever they shoot so much more approachable, meaningful and erotic.
I hope this helps Guy, because at the moment you aren't quite holding my interest... I feel that what we're currently seeing are very primitive scenes that are yet to undergo post-production (editing, colouring, sound design, scoring, etc.)... and consequently, are yet to breathe any real life unless pure chemistry exists. I know there are some things that you simply can't do (and I know the reasons), but I hope you will be able to shape the content more to 'our' liking in the future :)
Like I always tell Alis on SexArt... you have my support!!!

This is arguably the finest (and my favourite) scene shot since the MetArt Network acquired Viv Thomas. The writing is elegant and what was depicted felt authentic and genuine. Lorena is a true beauty, the perfect mix of class, sexiness and personality. Tracy, as always, is superb! The connection shared by both ladies is evident in their communication, verbal and non-verbal, and their flushed-eared orgasms. Thank you Guy, Kelly and the team, and thank you Rose. I cannot speak highly enough of this scene!
But… I do have one gripe. Viv Thomas was renowned as thee ‘legs and feet’ filmmaker. That is a tradition I want to see carried on! So… when dresses, panties, heels etc. are being removed, the camera should not be on a face or torso, it should track down the legs and to the feet, exploring those parts of the body too.

Casting is most definitely a difficult challenge, especially for a genuine filmmaker like Guy. I agree with point a) and b), though with b) I'd add that it would be worthwhile that our directors pay particular attention to Rose's interview question, "who do you like working with?". And Rose, it would be extremely valuable if you altered this a little and said, "which GIRLS do you like working with? AND. Are there any girls you really want to work with?"
I'd then also add two more points in that you need to find:
c) girls who fit AND can act their role/character (i.e. Tracy Lindsay in Sexpresso)
d) girls who, when working together, deliver the type of chemistry first conceived on paper (i.e. dominant, kinky, sexually charged - Tracy Lindsay and Suzie Carina, as seen in LFS - Safeword).
Of course, I don't doubt that Guy considers these things already :) I'm sure he'll prove that in these next round of films :)

Guy! You are so very welcome. I respect so much just how hard something like this is too pull off. This takes an incredible amount of skill! I can only begin to imagine the amount of planing that went into this, and yet, you would have had to prepare yourself for any and every curve ball that could have been thrown. I could literally see you thinking the entire time you were shooting too, taking into consideration all our wants and desires and making sure to capture them. And then to keep that camera so steady, and to control the lighting and angles and don't even start me on the sound! It's just incredible! Someone like Paul Greengrass could learn a heck of a lot from a film like this! :) Mind you, shaky-cam does somewhat suit action...
11mins... and now all I can think is, 'this is SOOO pretty!'
Alpha86, 'ugly' is not a very nice word, and certainly not one Anissa would like to read. Please don't use it again. That said, I do agree we need more models like those you've named. I'd love to see all those girls represented across MetNetwork. I hope we can make this happen!

First, let point out that there is a reason I felt compelled to watch this, as opposed to other recent titles, and that’s because of casting. I’ve watched films like Locke and Bronson, for no other reason than that they had Tom Hardy’s name attached to them. Suffice it to say I did research on directors, writers and cinematographers afterwards. Actors and actresses earn the big bucks not just because they’re talented, but because if their name is attached to something, it means they bring their fans with them. So you get ‘draw’. And Julia brings the ‘draw’ here, because she’s the well-known superstar.
Now, other random notes:
- I reiterate that it’s great to see music creeping into these films. Music is emotion and life and plays such a vital role in influencing and playing off/adding to the narrative. Music is something that needs to be included.
- Great… actually, fabulous costuming and hair and make-up work, it brought such realism to this scene
- On the topic of realism, that was such a killer intro, it established storyline, character and tone exceptionally well, and I loved, absolutely loved that it was allowed to play out within a ‘somewhat’ natural time frame. I say somewhat because it was still a little rushed and ultimately felt like a Segway into more the ‘what-is-considered-more-important’ sexual encounter
- Also in regards to the intro, I want to congratulate all the girls on how they handled the scenario. It was really fun, relatable and the dialogue was pretty much spot on
- A little disappointed that these videos are ending so abruptly and especially straight after sex. It feel a little cheap. Please try to add some sort of after-sex scene to rectify this
- It’s really important Guy that you maintain well-balanced shooting-editing in the types of shot you selected and also of what you’re displaying. This was still a little too heavy on the close-up side, and a little too heavy on the face and pussy side too
- I’d reference Locanta’s IBDS: Vol.’s 2 and 3 for pointers on how to shoot ‘the most erotically’. Those films really do ‘steal beauty’ and are technically and from a shooting/editing perspective, probably the most erotic technical material on offer at SexArt. Use those long continuous shots, and pepper them with close ups and extreme close ups (like at 11:36-11:44) that explore the ENTIRE BODY, not just faces and pussies. But lips, ears, hands, arms, legs, feet, hair, etc.
- Also on that point, look for arousal/orgasm cues and try to shoot them: flushing of the chest, reddening of the ears, pupillary dilation, toe curling, anal contractions, etc, etc.
- Just to reiterate what I’ve said on a previous comment, relax a little on camera movements and speed and try to keep it relatively still. Hold for a few seconds and let us actually take things in. Sex shouldn’t be rushed, it should be treasured.
Anyway, overall Guy, this is the best material I’ve seen from you in a long time! This is great! Take plenty of notes from what everyone says on this scene, cause I’m sure they will be really useful to you when you write new material.
Thank you Guy and team for delivering such a great scene, I hope the rest of the movie gets better from here :)

I think you've kinda missed my point here Rose, it's only the 'Vignette' movies I have an issue with.
Let me give you an example - If you tried to watched all 6 episodes of Alis Locanta's 'Lost in a Dream' series (excluding Ep. 7) in a row, you'd be bored by 2/3 the way through Ep. 2. Why? It's the same stuff. Watch them a week apart, your staying power might increase a little, you'll watch maybe 3 in 3 weeks, then you'll get sick of it. Why? Because it's all the same and you want something different.
If you, or Guy, or anyone else for that matter is writing a Vignette style movie, you need to approach each scene differently, with a fresh narrative/idea/theme/perspective/eye. Because, from what I've seen so far, it's the same stuff - photographer takes some pictures of a model, flirtation occurs between the two, sex eventuates. I don't want to see that same thing 4 times over, I don't even want to watch Empire Strikes Back 4 times over and it's the greatest movie of all time according to this months issue of Empire.
Now I'm not asking for deep and meaningful Rose, (I know VT is different to SexArt), but I am asking for fresh, different, original. I only critique for the purpose of being constructive and helpful. I want to get you writing better, I want to get Guy writing/directing better and on the whole I want to make VT better. Just know that when you're reading my words, they are meant to be hurtful or critical, and they aren't designed to provoke you into taking a defensive stance - they're designed only to help you should you find them helpful.

Just some random notes:
- It’s nice to see some music creeping into these films, I do think it’s possible to have it in there without it feeling too SexArt, it’s definitely something to be considered strongly in the future. And yes… I recognised it ;)
- The camerawork, to be blunt (and I know a little harsh), is frustrating, annoying so. This style is VERY MASCULINE. Yes, it lends itself well when the chemistry between the ladies is raw and primal, like After Hours (1); but when it’s not, and it’s more sensual, it completely destroys the mood. I always saw VivThomas as a lesbian site, made for lesbians, that’s what I loved about it. Now that doesn’t mean you can’t shoot masculine, it just means you have to adapt your shooting style according to the chemistry per scene.
- Additionally, if you are shooting raw and primal, you have to ease back… The camera is moving far too rapidly, capturing a glimpse of everything, but nothing in detail. That sort of thing would work for Locanta’s ‘Vertigo’, but it doesn’t work here. Relax a little ;)
- Speaking of adapting your camerawork, I think it also might be a good idea to adapt it according to the models you shoot. For example, Talia’s bat tattoo is super scary and distracting, I’d take care to use angles that don’t include it in the frame. In saying that however, Talia’s skin, hands and eyes are incredible! I’d take care to shoot these in detail. With Erica, shoot her hair, her legs and feet, her upper back and oblique’s. These are her best features – the features that are the sexiest. We want to see those sexy features!
- There’s still a yellow hue on the girls skin caused by the lighting. You need to soften it and fix this.
- Just one continuity thing – I’m not sure where that purple outfit came from, I thought Erica only picked 3 for Talia: green, blue and red. Anyway…
Welcome to VT. You don’t understand how special it is to have you in the comments section with us :) It makes our experience so much more enjoyable. I know Guy speaks very highly of you, so I’ve been looking forward to seeing you! This was my first time :)
Now, I love that you’re open to feedback, it tells me you want to be an awesome actress, and that’s what Guy loves and what I want to hear! So, in the interest of a little constructive feedback, I would say:
- I agree with some of the other members, just relax on the moans a little. There’s something very sexy about the dynamics of a scene when it starts soft and builds. Maybe you’ve heard songs like Young London (AVA), Fix You (Coldplay), Alibi (30STM), Gypsy (Lady Gaga), My Hands (Leona Lewis) Iridescent (Linkin Park), Open Your Eyes (Snow Patrol). These songs build… so that when the magic happens, it’s truly special and transcendent. If you are interested too, you could watch some of Silvie Luca’s scenes. If you watch her early material, you’ll notice she exaggerates a lot of her moans, but in her latest material, she is very relaxed in the beginning, allowing the scene to build. It makes for more engaging viewing.
- I’d definitely talk to Guy about capturing those eyes in detail! It’s a rare quality when you have eyes that penetrate us, but at the same time provide us with a pathway into you.
Anyway, I hope it helps Talia, cause I’d love to see more of you, and I’d love to see you develop into a really wonderful actress! P.S. Sorry about the ‘scary’ comment about the bat tattoo… I’m a bit of a sissy ;)

I love ambiguity too! God if everything was cut and dry, we would never ever have filmmakers like Kubrick, Mallick, Nolan, Locanta, Iñárritu, Cuarón - and a world without them is not one I want to live in!
I can however understand Woowoody's point, because sometimes I do want a straight storyline too. I want some Spielberg, Lucas, Bird, Jackson, Cameron, etc. I think like everything it's going to be about striking a balance :)
Woowoody, I just need to come to Guy's defence based on this comment: 'The current storylines are mediocre. They are not clear - one can see that you don't have a lot of experiences in this one'. Guy has a background and many, many years of experience in mainstream film. He loves film, it's his passion, his life! He knows and understands what he's making, so if you're not getting a clear cut storyline in this film, it's not because he's incapable of providing one, it's because that's how he intended it.

Okie dokie, It's very late and I need to get some rest, so I'll keep it short and sweet :)
What I like most about Senses and Holiday (as opposed to previous entries) is the lighting and colouring! Much, much better! Things feel more natural and more vibrant and are as such, evoking happy feelings in me! This feels less moody and more romantic and sweet, and pretty... and I love that :)
Next is story and dialogue. It's great to see! I love spending time with the girls and exploring the gorgeous environments. Totally agree with _fer_ though, it would have been nice to see dialogue carry over into the sex scene.
Lastly. Silvie is a goddess. As she grows with experience, she grows more gorgeous and talented. I absolutely adore her (and her boobies, and I know she does too, haha). Angel however... I guess she's just not to my personal taste.
Anyway, great effort. It definitely sets a platform from which to continue to grow :) Looking forward to future instalments of both Senses and Holiday, and I can't wait to see Silvie and Carolina together! That will sizzle!

Guy and Rose,
Ok. So please let me start by saying our girls on hair/makeup and costume design are really killing it! Our actresses always look so darn gorgeous, and you deserve so much credit for your work behind the scenes in making that happen. Guy, please pass on my admiration and many thanks! :)
Next up and God… this scene is amazing! Watching dominant Tracy be dominated with kinky romanticism is perhaps one of the sexiest things you’ll ever witness in your life. What I like about that even more however, was that all that frustration and ensuing control was an extension of the OCD-addled Misha seen in the opening sequence. That’s most definitely how you artistically write an explicit sex scene. Congratulations Rose, this ranks up there against the best of SexArt artist Alis Locanta’s work – Guy that extends to you too!
My only compliant, there’s still ‘bumping’ in the mic/boom. Please try to fix this for next time.
But now to a bigger issue… For me, this scene reinforces feelings that I’ve stated prior. That the repetitiveness of Anthology scenes means that they rely too heavily upon chemistry to distinguish them from each other - and further, create something memorable, and well, distinguishing (there’s no better word for it). Because so far, I’ve only and will only remember one scene from each title: Caliginosity and Solecism. Please don’t take that disrespectfully Rose, I still judge first and foremost on authenticity/(chemistry here) – then on the artistry. Same goes for any film.
To avoid that, and to strengthen future Anthology titles I think what we need to do also is separate scenes more artistically also (some things may have already been done). That could mean:
- Altering shooting styles: close-up vs. medium vs. long
- Altering editing: heavy vs. little vs. none
- Altering methods of play: dominant vs. submissive vs. shared
- Altering light styles: dark vs. light, natural vs. synthetic
- Altering features shot: a boobs scene, a legs/feet scene, a butt scene, etc.
- Altering locations: indoors vs. outdoors, bed vs. shower vs. lounge, etc.
It could even mean having multiple writers (2-4) individually working on scenes that comprise the total. Then the take on the idea will be fresh, different, distinguishing… yet continue to explore the same concept. You could have a ‘story/concept by:’ and ‘written by:’ credit to denote where the idea originated if that creates issues.
Anyway, these are just a few ideas I have for improving Anthology scenes moving forward. I hope they’ll be useful in some way :)

Hey harryben, you're absolutely right, it's going to be a (re)building process, and it will take time to develop! But that's what I loved about VT, the female-oriented feel, so it's something I hope Jon and his teams can help rebuild. VT will never be as it was, and I don't think it should - things change, tastes change, etc. etc. but, there's a reason VT has it's label. I think trying to honour the culture and type of content Viv produced is very important, and as with anything, learning from things past will help determine the future.

I can understand your frustration. Viv was brilliant, and I don't think anyone will ever replace him! Team A&A were doing a great job (though it wasn't without flaws either), and so far, I like there take on Viv better than Guy too. What you have to remember though is that they've had much more experience than Guy... we have to give Guy a chance! He's very quick to adapt, and he's always eager to hear and respond (in future films) to feedback/critiques.
That being said, I think like anyone would were the comments to be rudely worded, then he may simply brush over them. You sound like you have a lot of respect for Viv and his legacy, so I would encourage you to continue to provide feedback, but next time, could you please offer it in a kinder, more constructive manner?
Thanks for joining us Talia :) You're one very lucky girl. I think everyone agrees, Mango is as close to perfection as they come, lol :) By the way, I didn't realise how beautiful your eyes were before, so... yes, they are beautiful and cool, just so you know :) It's great to have you back and I'm really excited to read more of you in the future!
I really like it, but at the same time… there’s lots that can be improved.
Now, I loved the structure of the film. I think having it segmented into a variety of different scenes, each offering something unique and quite different from the next, keeps things both interesting and intriguing; and I also think that intersecting sex scenes and dialogue is fantastic idea and a great way to carry the story throughout the film. That said… The story itself was underdeveloped. There’s not enough exposition throughout to really understand what was going on, and as such (almost) every emotional beat in the film misses it’s mark.
Now, I know Alis that dialogue is going to be something you’ll have to grow into, because at SexArt you are very much a visual storyteller – my favourite kind. But, here it’s more a matter of dialogue, so… what are the issues I had with it? Well, I’ve mentioned that there was not enough exposition, though I do understand that this will likely be resolved in future episodes, but here’s some things you need to consider.
1. The Empire Strike Back issue – by this I mean, an incomplete film, which as a standalone does not work. Sure, it’s best Star Wars film there currently is, but… A story must have a beginning, middle and end, and regardless of the fact that these are episodes in a longer arc, there needs to be enough explanation and payoff per episode, that viewer doesn’t feel cheated.
2. The dialogue itself. It’s unnatural and at times pretentious, i.e. “if I wouldn’t make a decision, it would become of those things that we desire for all our life, but never do”. People don’t talk like this. Let me refer to you Boyhood for an example of dialogue both good and bad. In the first 2.25 hours of Boyhood, you’ll notice the dialogue is very subtle, natural and casual, yet… is deeply metaphorical if you actually engage with it. That’s good writing! The last 45 mins however dissolves into this pretentious, overblown, unnatural gobbledygook. So… when you’re writing dialogue, write similar to those first 2.25 hours, and if at any point your dialogue starts to sound like those last 45 mins, you’ll know it’s time to start over.
3. If you have a line like, “sorry to show up in the middle of the night like this”, it may be a good idea to shoot at night ;)
Now, back to what I liked. Well, I can tell you that that opening masturbation scene with Mango on the left of screen and Talia out of focus on the right was a masterclass in framing. Draw a vertical line down the middle of that screen and you have two entirely separate stories occurring in parallel. If anyone’s interested, you should search for that scene, use your hand cover half the screen and watch Talia, then, cover the Talia and watch Mango, then watch them both together. That’s brilliant framing and a killer use of the quadrant system!
What else did I like? Scoring. I love that you’ve featured a track with a female vocalist and I’d encourage you to use music such as this more and more. I also really like the crescendo behind both the orgasms of the girls. However… you don’t want to overpower the orgasm itself with that music, else you run the ‘Interstellar’ risk. Yes, I love that music is so integral to the story, but remember to be careful with it.
I also like the little things: gentle handheld camera movement; steady (tripod-mounted) long/continuous shots; the clothes in the room - actually let me go into depth on that point. If those clothes aren’t in the room, that environment feels stale, but with them there, particularly given their colour they add vibrancy and life. I also like that they were slightly distracting – simply for the fact that Eva’s costumes are always really beautiful and HOT!
Last two things: one bad, one good. The bad is the kissing. I know you’re pushing for these deep, sensual, soulful kisses, but at the same time, there is definitely a time for reserved kissing, with a build up that moves towards something more passionate. The final scene where Mango is saying goodbye to Talia, well, I don’t buy into the realism of that kiss. For me, it should have started with a bit tease, some eye contact, a palpable chemistry, etc, before they dive into deep passionate kissing.
Now for the good thing. Talia. It’s great to have to back with us. I just wanted to note two things. The first is those moans we all talked about last time you were here – I’m really glad to see you’ve taken our feedback and are letting them build with intensity throughout the scene. Your performance here was great. And last, you’ll have to forgive me if it causes any offence, but Alis, I think you’ve done a fantastic job of framing and positioning Talia so as to avoid showing her tattoo too much.
And that’s all :)
Continued communication throughout sex is an incredibly important aspect of sexual encounters. Communication elevates our connection and chemistry beyond just the physical, it becomes social too, which in turn has the ability to further stimulate us aurally and mentally as well. I hope it will be something encouraged from this moment forward! :)

Generally speaking, you won't find the style here or on SexArt, and that's a very good thing. If you look at Guy's early films like 'Look At Me' for example, you'll get an idea of what I mean though. It's important that point out however, that Guy's 'masculine' style hits the very low end of the spectrum, and additionally, that I do believe their is a place for it - just look at After Hours (1). That conveys best the emotions shared between Lorena and Tracy - lust, passion, immediacy. So that 'masculine' style works incredibly well for that scene!
But to answer your question more specifically... generally, I know a scene is masculine, when it's quite up-close and invasive, the camera lacks a languid, fluid feel, and you'll see things like prolonged or excessive quantities of 'pussy, breast and ass shots'. It's trying to put you in scene, and I see that as 'male fantasy'. For me, I never want to feel like I'm involved, that detracts from the beauty of what's being shared, and what should only be shared between those actresses involved.
As I said too, I watched Holly and Tammy and experimented with other female directors between SE and SA, and I was able to pin-point reasons as to why I liked their work, and lost interest in a lot of male-directed things. Thankfully, even though our directors are male, they are sensitive, thoughtful, considerate and take into account their female audience. It helps also that they have strong female influences coming through the likes of production partners and those girls involved with hair and make-up. I can honestly say that I have the deepest respect for Alis, Andrej and others because of these qualities and because of their passion for the art of cinema.
I guess one of my desires and personal aims, amongst many, is to promote the idea of femininity in the erotic arts. Women should be represented as equally as men, and it's important that MetNetwork continues to strive to achieve that equality.
Anyway, I hope that helps in some way :)

I like it, but I'm not in love with it. As a girl/girl performer Alexis is still developing, but you can see she's getting better and better, and Henessy is a bit further along the line in terms of experience. As actresses, again, this was fine, but with a bit more experience and prowess, it could have elevated this is another level. These are definitely two girls to keep your eye though, because with continued development, I think they'd both be wonderful ambassadors for VivThomas.
As to the technicalities of shooting. This was actually pretty cool! In the more romantic moments a languid camera was favoured, while when things got a bit more heated, that close-up camera was brought to the forefront. I think that shows a really excellent understanding of how to shoot and edit according to heat/emotion. I'd keep going in this direction :) There'd only be one thing I'd do differently, and that's get out of '2013-14 Locanta habit' of limiting close ups to whatever exists between the head and pussy, but forgetting the lower body. I mean, c'mon Guy, this is Viv-LEGS&FEET-Thomas :)

Forgive me if they're not welcome, but I do want to add my thoughts regarding VT directorship - and the thing I want to bring up is that VT shooting, editing and release schedules are FAR too ridiculous for any one director to manage!
Honestly, I have the greatest faith in Guy and his abilities, but this kind of workload is just too much. I feel like quantity is what's being asked for, and it is being delivered, but unfortunately because of that, quality is becoming few and far between. That's not because Guy isn't capable of it, (because I know he is, 110%), it's because anyone with those sorts of schedules and pressures and deadlines to adhere to just isn't going to work optimally. It's that simple.
We desperately need to find another director for VT to share that workload, or we need to slow down release schedules - I'm willing to sacrifice quantity for quality every day of the week, and twice on Sundays. Because I know if was Guy, this kind of continued demand would probably start to take it's toll on my psychology - and (I don't intend this as bragging in any way, but) I have a pretty high work+study tolerance...

You're absolutely right _fer_, there's definitely a place for it, and yes, for this scene it's suited. I should have clarified that I was referring to Guy's shooting 'style' in general. I think my main point is that he shouldn't have this 'one' shooting 'style', he should be adapting his 'style' specific to each scene and the connection of the performers.
When you've got raw sexuality shared between say, Lorena and Tracy (After Hours - Caliginosity), you can shoot masculine; but when you've got a more romantic connection shared between say Alyssa and Mango (Jealousy: Vol. 2), you absolutely cannot! It detracts from the connection and the emotions.
Anyway, I think Guy's new material coming out of Hungary, and thereafter will demonstrate a better understanding of these things :)

I agree with pretty much everything you've said here Steph. Anissa's yet to connect with any girl she's been partnered with, which makes for very uninspiring viewing. Maybe she's just not a g/g performer, maybe she just needs the right girl, who knows... In general, I think we have the same taste in women, in body art (or should I say the non-existence of it) and in film. And I think we both kind of agree, that both sites, VT and SexArt, are in a bit of lull at the moment. Have faith they'll get out of it though... I do :)
In regards to SexArt:
Alis directed all efforts into LFS(2) and so hasn't been able to contribute much in the way of standalone films lately, which is really disappointing. It's a little frustrating too because it's b/g - I'd say try approach it like I do, and analyse it as film, I find that makes it easier to watch. Now, for something that will really excite you Steph... I do know Alis has some incredible g/g stuff on the way... game-changing stuff from what I hear. Oh, and the girls he shot with are smoking hot!
As for Team A&A, Secrets of Prague is just around the corner, it'll have our favs. I'm hoping it lives up to the hype.
And just on the point of favs, I'm kinda like you in that respect too. It seems that culture has developed to the point where all we care about is the next new thing - and I feel like our teams kinda subscribe to it because they're always looking for new models. I could never get bored of Tracy, Lorena, Alexa, Julia, etc. And I could never get bored of seeing certain girls paired in certain ways. Just because we've seen a Tracy-Lorena pairing and an Alexa-Julia pairing doesn't mean we're not allowed to see it again. It should mean the opposite. If you've got a pairing that works, film them, over and over. The best VT scenes are those between Sandy and Sophie, and Jo and Eve. I wish Viv had of paired them even more regularly than he did.
Anyway... I'm blabbering and it's late, so onto the next point.
In regards to VT:
Find Guy on Twitter, you'll find some pics he's posted of the girls he's been shooting with in Hungary. They look pretty good to me... I do kinda hope he's waiting to reveal some even more gorgeous models though. And I don't think Guy will be too mad if I tell you, but he shot with Alexis Brill just recently.
Anyway, I hope this helps. You're not alone, I feel the same, but let's try keep some optimism :) And at the very least, hang around for Caravaggio and Lorena's work. Great film, but definitely room for improvement, and that improvement is going to come through shooting and editing. Write this down ok. This is a quote that you’re going to find very, very useful.
Now, Alis makes ‘Erotic Film’, but…
“When it comes to ‘Erotica’, you don’t need to produce any real artistry with your camerawork and editing. Instead, what you need to do is produce camerawork and editing that captures the authenticity of the chemistry and connection.”
What does that mean? It means that the best moments of this film came in the introduction, and that the best shot of the film was at 3:34mins through 6:27mins. In this sequence you delivered long/medium, lingering shots, which were very minimally edited, and hence, breathed life into the film, and complimented the authenticity of the girl’s chemistry and connection. When it comes to ‘Erotica’, you should let the viewer take things in at their own pace and with their own eye and interests.
So… long/medium, minimally edited shots are your priority, but it is still important to punctuate these with a treasured, minimally edited close-ups too.

Rose. Thanks for the interview. These are my favourite things that come out on our Blog. They give us a real sense of who the girls are. And it's also great for me, because as you know I've been writing, and that sense of the girl, and particularly who she enjoys working with, provides me with plenty of context from which to write and cast.
An interesting point about the face during orgasm harryben - sometimes I feel the exact same, other times I disagree though. I think it's something Guy picked up from Alis and I can understand why he might have. If you look at the character posters for Lars Von Tier's 'Nymphomaniac' you can kind of see that face reveals a more cerebral aspect of orgasmic delight than any long shot ever could. But in saying that, you're right in that long shots are much more erotic to watch. In any case, I think it's about striking a balance - and I'd say given that VT produces erotica, as opposed to erotic film, the latter should take precedence, simply for the fact that it suits the VT style more.

Ok, first things first, it’s great to see the MetArt films opening up-scaled! Please continue with this. All we need now is for the HUGE VIV THOMAS logo to be downscaled to ¼, then it’ll be much more classy and pretty.
Now to the scene. It was ok, but it lacked chemistry. Maybe it’s the age difference, I’m not sure… but the pairing just wasn’t right. That being said, both girls still did and incredible job and I am glad to have them both at VT. They are really gorgeous and really awesome girls!
Technical stuff. Just let the scene breathe a little more. As soon as you start editing too much Guy, it detracts from the realism and romance. I’ve been watching quite a bit of female-directed stuff lately and what I’ve noticed most is that females rarely cut. They’ll pick a shot (usually long shot_ and just let it run, and in turn allow the scene and the actresses to breathe their own life into it. Also, please, please, please, never ever again rapid cut when the girls are getting undressed, unless you’re trying to convey that they’re super and just can’t wait to devour each other. That was seriously awkward and unsuited given the languid pacing prior, and not mention, frustrating, because VivThomas is supposed to be the legs/feet/heels website.
Now! Taylor!!! I think I just fell in lust… I’ve seen Taylor in all her MetArt appearances since LIAD: Vol. 4, but she’s never looked this smoking hot! Those heels, those panties and that bra… oh that bra........... That butt and that tan, oh how a love a girl with a killer tan. And her little ears too; they are sooo cute :) Her nails too. Oh Taylor, you’re an angel :) If you can upstage Amarna Miller you’re doing something right, and together with Dakota and an unnamed costume designer, you girls did everything right! I totally agree. Language barriers and experience of the models is going to impact things immensely. But that shouldn't mean scenes with less experienced models aren't going to reach the heights of those starring more experienced models. Because if that were the case, there's just no use in working with new models. Look at SexArt's 'Sunset on Charles Bridge' for example. Two new, inexperienced models that pulled of a meaningful film remarkably well. This was was mostly due to a well-considered/suited concept for these models. Perhaps that's what we need to think of in the future? With what scripts can we introduce new, inexperienced models, and still generate authentic chemistry and stories?
In regards to this scene. I still think there was room for improvement, had little things like what I've mentioned above been incorporated into the sex scene. As would have been required given the language barrier, Tracy, an established actress, could have directed Apolonia physically/non-verbally to continue the theme/idea. Perhaps we'll see the concept better-realised in coming scenes featuring more established actresses that can partner with Tracy. I hope so because I do love this idea!

Lighting has become a big issue with our Spanish teams as of late, but here and on SexArt. I'm not entirely sure what's going on, but it's something that NEEDS to be fixed, both in film and photography. I've come to expect better, much better.
Here at VT I can offer the suggestion of using natural lighting. I know that's what Viv favoured, and it would suit Guy's style for 'constant-shooting' more, as imperfections in the lighting would only occur naturally anyway. I hope that makes sense. If natural lighting were to be used however, we'd have to get Guy outdoors, and that's classic Viv too. Just some ideas :)

Hi Woowoody, I'm a little sad you're not warming to Guy, because personally I love his work. It's very different from Lupins', that much is for sure - but it's 'different-good' in my eyes. In any case, I hope you'll continue to watch his coming films, because the development VT right now is truly palpable! Although it might take a little time to find a groove, if I know Guy... your faith will be rewarded!
If you are looking for more of Lupin's films however, I would, like _fer_realz_, strongly advocate that you look at his work on SexArt. Whether that means a subscription or using the 'Pay Per Scene' feature is up to you. An excellent first scene! From a storyline standpoint this was much better than Sexpresso - Scene 1. It has introduced (all) characters, and set up future scene's. With 3 sentences as simple as, 'You clean the pool. You the kitchen. You the car', this dialogue indicates that these character arcs will be explored in future scenes. As a first scene, within a film, this effort makes me extremely happy!
Just three other notes:
- Suzie really thrives in a dominant and sexy role, and it's so nice to see her again :)
- Favourite shot was of Suzie's leg, shot at 90* horizontal, resting upon the bonnet, with Paula licking from Suzie from the lower left corner of screen. That was an intelligently erotic shot
- Outdoor sex! Rose, you know what I'm talking about ;)

And so our beloved SexArt team comes to Viv Thomas! And naturally I follow, not only because I adore and respect their work, but because they are the masters of formulating and producing authentically erotic content.
The SexArt brand has always had an emphasis on its title’s latter: Art. It’s the driving inspiration and philosophy behind their films and with thematic and conceptual intent, SexArt film seeks to educate and inform its audience. Though the primary topic of exploration is naturally sexuality, more often than not, SexArt film will venture into broader studies of sexuality, its many components, and the impact and influence of these on the human condition.
Not that long ago, I drew comparison between SexArt’s flagship directors: Team A&A and Alis Locanta. The former’s strength, the ability to capture genuine chemistry and ‘Sex’, the latter, his emphasis upon the ‘Art’ of filmmaking. Lately both directors (over at SexArt) have been striving to develop their respective weaknesses. It seems however that for their films at Viv Thomas, Team A&A have recognised and are playing to their strengths wholeheartedly. It’s both good and bad.
It’s good, because it’s clear they are positively thriving in their new roles at Viv Thomas. The sexual content is gorgeous, and possesses an unwavering emphasis on real and genuine connection. Part of what drives that is clearly the environment of comfort Team A&A provide the actresses with behind the scenes. On the screen however is where that chemistry really matters to the viewer, and all credit must go to Lupin, Humble and Sweet for their impeccable cinematography. We are permitted the privilege of exploring every inch of the female form in glorious detail: eyes and eyelashes, ears, necks, nipples, fingernails, clits, feet etc. You name it, they caught it, and in a very intriguing close-up I might add. I think particularly of Scene 1 as Tracy licks Aiko’s clitoris, and we can see it genuinely stiffen and flush with blood as Aiko becomes aroused; or perhaps the art of kissing that was captured throughout the entirety of the series. I will say though, be careful not to overuse close-ups; the full-body shots in this film were remarkable, I definitely would have loved to see more. Basically, all I can say is that sexual content is being captured impeccably, and the various constituents, which contribute to eroticism: costuming, hair and make-up, location, etc. are awesome! But that’s what brings me to the bad.
There seems to be too much emphasis on the sexual content and not enough on the art of filmmaking. This is beautiful porn, not erotic film. Now, I’m not asking for SexArt, I certainly want these sites to maintain their identities, but why can’t both sites learn from each other; Viv Thomas from SexArt particularly. Beautiful porn is available everywhere, and SexArt revolutionized what porn is when it transformed it into meaningful erotic film. Viv Thomas is in need of an update and in the hands of Jon, Andrej and Ariel (and perhaps even Alis), I hope it will accomplish that.
I want the foundations Viv Thomas has set to stay, but in future videos I want to see a stronger emphasis on storyline, particularly non-explicit and character development; I want to see erotic films. Unfortunately Sexpresso only touched upon that notion.
For starters. Coffee! It played such a minimal role in a film titled Sexpresso. Coffee is something that we share, something that brings us together, particularly in a social setting. It provides the Segway for conversation, the sharing of stories and lives. Whether literally or metaphorically that could have been explored in so much more depth… In all honesty, the importance of Coffee to the story was summed up by the fact that Tracy and her partner’s were often drinking it cold: i.e. that we just didn’t really care about the Coffee.
Now for… Scene 1?!? Hmm… What’s its role, well… to say that Tracy likes coffee and girls. But that’s the premise of the entire film, and that was established in future scenes anyway. In addition, the scene ended abruptly, and we were never to see Aiko again. Basically, the scene was unnecessary in the broad scheme of things, and as an opening scene, within a film!, that’s not ok. Fortunately things picked up from there. Scene 2, 3, and 4 were all interlinked and played like a film, with characters interacting and bearing some influence upon one another and/or the story as whole. We got an insight particularly into Tracy’s personality, as well as Stacy’s and then Daniella’s (in order of highest to lowest degree). Let’s hope that Scenes 2, 3 and 4 are the building block for future stories.
So that’s about it! Sorry, I’ve done what I can. I’ve been really busy. I wish I had more time to review the film properly and reword things to sound less critical and a little kinder. And so our beloved SexArt team comes to Viv Thomas! And naturally I follow, not only because I adore and respect their work, but because they are the masters of formulating and producing authentically erotic stories.
A great opening scene, though as always, improvements could be made. In direct reference to this scene these include:
- Greater story and contextual development in the non-explicit opening (particularly given this will set up the rest of the movie)
- Dialogue (Aiko asked, 'Is it nice outside?', after she had just finished walking outside in the gorgeous sunlight. Hmm...)
- Cinematography. I believe this was one the movies greatest strengths, especially with the continuos use of medium shots, close-ups and extreme close-ups to symbolise intimacy and also explore in glorious detail, the female form. I think these 3 shot types were overused however during the shooting and editing of the sexual content. More wide shots would have better utilised the environment, given a sense of bearing and showcased the actresses lower bodies much more effectively
- Sexual aftermath. I hope in the next scene we will see what happens post-Aiko/Tracy-sex. Ending an erotic movie too soon post-orgasm makes things feel rushed, cheap, and diminishes meaning and intimacy

I am very hard at work on a review for this movie, though based on my experience with SexArt series, I think it best if I wait to view the movie in it's entirety before providing too much comment. I don't want to jump the gun...
What I will say is this. This is a Viv Thomas scene, not a SexArt Film. I appreciate this and immensely commend your adaptability. Whether or not I like this is another thing however. SexArt have always emphasised 'Art', and utilised their Films to educate and inform their audience (just as Film should). It will be interesting to see if with this movie, and those to follow in the future, Viv Thomas shares the SexArt philosophy.

I appreciate you putting the time and energy into helpful comments. As you opine on captions please be mindful of those of us who are hearing impaired. I know that fixed captions can be obtrusive to those who don't need them so some form of control over captions is, in my opinion, helpful. Though SRTs are hardly the answer to a maiden's prayer (I still struggle with them) they do help me. In most cases I like downloading better than streaming. Keep up the good work! Best Wishes, Buck

A curious comment, Sydney, about the quick opening and lack of context. As I recall, you have written positively about "The Heat" on SexArt, which opens even more directly to intense love-making. Appreciating your critical skills, I'm curios to learn about what works differently for you between those movies.
I also have some mixed feeling about the comments on some of dental health issues - and I think that could be expanded to other aspects as well. While I certainly wouldn't appreciate a mouth fil off rotting teeth, I find that I actually models who are less than perfect. Seeing someone with some misaligned teeth, for example, makes them more human - maybe more approachable.
On a personal note it reminds that not everyone grows up in a family that can afford cosmetic dentistry. That's not my story - I have badly misaligned teeth. When I was getting my permanent teeth, when braces might have been needed, there were times when evening dinner was ketchup sandwiches because money was tight. And I was glad because I knew kids who sometimes didn't even have that much.
So when I see some of our models who presumably grew up in circumstances not allowing that type of work, I can relate. And I'm inspired to see them carrying forward, in confidence, when they certainly must be aware of the imperfections. So I love seeing the occasional misaligned teeth of missing tooth, a stain that can't be removed, the occasional misaligned fingers, surgical scars, or remnants of hammer toes.
True sexuality doesn't only transcend imperfections, it incorporates them and draws greater strength from them.
And Alexis Crystal I think is a wonderful example of that.

Things I agree with you :
The sound. You’re perfectly right. It’s not as good as I wanted. You have to know that for the moment,I’m a single man operation and in my job, I’m used working with crew of 20 and more people. Big change. I hope to not make the same mistakes again. But Im’ not sure of knocking the microphone. Floor was noisy. Anyway …
Also, you have to know I talk to the models, sometimes just to say : “what you do is great”. I think it’s important to let them know they head in the good direction. Of course, I have to edit the sound again to cover my voice. Hmmmm
The coat moment. Of course, I saw it while shooting BUT we made a few takes before this one and I felt that now, Tracy was on the good way. And I was right. You can see she knows the coat didn’t fall correctly as she push it away in the corner of the room. Clever from her and I didn’t want to stop her again in what I was thinking will be the best shot. It generated a lot of frustration on my side (while shooting and editing phase) - but I’m still sure I made a right decision. Sorry for you guys !
About the technical aspects …
Foreground objects :
I don’t use them for the “artistic way of doing”. I decide to shoot this video with a 90 mm lens - in comparaison, Jewels on TLE was shot with a 35 mm lens. So, I decided from the beginning to put the viewer in a distance : maybe in the voyeur position. When you look from a distance, you have mostly objects between you and what you watch. That’s a bit the feeling I wanted to give. I also think that blurred foreground is guiding the eye of the viewer with some kind of excitation. First, you don’t really see what happens (exactly because of the foreground) and if you keep watching, you will see. Imagine you spot a beautiful girl in the crowd and you’re not really sure if she’s that beautiful because you view is not 100% free and then, all the people in the foreground blocking your view vanish and you see how beautiful she is. I think it’s happening every day in my life. That’s it.
For the editing, I’m not really sure I understand what you mean ?? My intention was to alternate wide shot (the voyeur point of view) with extreme close-up (inside the models head) - I think the nicest shots are the extrême close-up on Tracy when she starts to play. The movements of her nose is amazing …
About the “shared experience”. I have to say, I share Rose’s point of view. If we want to see the “behind the scene”, then it has to be in a different chapter. I think it’s a nice feature (at least, so I saw it) to not know what happens here. Why is Tess at this position ? Is it a game for her, a punition, … ? The only hint is the look she points to Tracy after getting her panties at the end. I think this short look gives a lot of what her situation was.
Regarding the educational aspect, you’re totally right.
For me, “Love For Sale” is the best Alis made (and Tracy was perfect in it )
I’m still on the learning curve and doing a lesbian scene is a more complex enterprise as filming a solo.

This worked for me precisely because of the power dynamic, and I want that maintained throughout the film. To see the "behind-the-scenes negotiations" of the power dynamic totally ruins it for me. Of course they must exist in a real-life BDSM relationship, but I want my performers to stay in character throughout the scene, otherwise it spoils the experience for me. And I say this as someone who plays this kind of game. Just my personal opinion.
Of course you are entitled to your opinion, Sydney, but I guess you missed the massive implication they were role playing? All of us females working here (including Sandra herself, and the models of course) were fine with this.

I must admit you said quite a few things I was also thinking. The very first time I encountered Alis Locanta's work was on SexArt. I was blown away with the Waltz and Love for Sale series. Waltz even won an award that year. His work inspired me to watch every MetArt production I could find and now, every erotic film I see has to be of this caliber or I can't deal with it. I feel the same about Viv Thomas productions. I have yet to see any matches for Prim and Improper or Butterfly. Which is why it only makes sense Sandra Shine is now directing. Her films are phenomenal!
I also agree, I saw some reloads here of different films, but I didn't like them. They didn't manifest the same passion as the first...aside from Vox. Most of them seem like they were rushed. The My First film in particular was so beautifully done on Sex Art. He even said it was time consuming and difficult, but the outcome was beyond outstanding! Had he taken that much time on the reload as he did on the first, I am sure it would have been better. I am sure he tried his best. I understand the deadlines for erotic films are much tighter than other projects. We have seen him capture the passion between people and make it so beautiful and believable that you see a deep profound connection with your own personal experiences relating to the films, making you watch it repeatedly. That magic happens only when any creative brain has been rested and revitalized. I, too, would like to see an even blend of directors along with his vision, and not one more than the rest.
I can't agree with the part about the Spanish models although I respect your opinion. I think they make a great addition to the Czech and Hungarian team. Well, actually I love all of them! I don't care where they are from. 😘 If anything, I want to see more diversity on VT this coming year; Australians, Germans, Africans, Asians, and more British & French girls.
Thanks for your feedback, Sydney! I think Sandra Shine has done an admirable job of picking up Viv's ethos, no doubt because she worked with him so many times and has an understanding of VT style from both sides of the camera. Hot Hungarian, Czech, Russian and Latvian babes, cute stories, intense pussy-eating and above all, FUN! I think getting her permanently on board was the most exciting development of the year.
But I also think we are blessed to have a director of Alis' caliber here, and we have to allow him the creative freedom to produce his own style of movie, not shoehorn him into Viv's style of working. He has some very interesting projects lined up for the new year, with his own type of storytelling, and I think it will be very cool to see how it all develops.
So, as always, it's still a work in progress, and probably will always be so, because we'll never stop trying to improve!

Sydney, I actually agree with pretty much every point you made, negative and positive. You're absolutely right, this does feel like "classic" Viv Thomas and that is a great thing. The story is right up the alley he'd write, I think. That being said, the sex scene did not excite the way previous Sandra Shine movies did. There was a seamless magic in her past scenes (all but perhaps one) that was absent in this one once the sex started.
I loved the setup and I loved the playing scene in the backyard. I mean... two pretty girls running around in their bathing suits? Life can't possibly get any better! Unfortunately between that scene and the sex starting somehow things veered from exciting and fun and new to ... routine, almost ho-hum.
That being said, there were excellent parts of the sex scene such as the face sitting, the extensive oral, as opposed to the extensive finger "action" we tend to see around here, and the 69. But like you I hope to see some more of Sandra's customary magic in the next scene. This scenario is a potentially delightfully sinfully delicious one... I hope it ends up playing out that way!

It's nothing to do with 'easier,' Sydney. It's to do with scheduling. Mainstream movies have the luxury of months of post-production. Erotica has a much faster turnaround, because members have made it clear they want to see movies as soon as possible after they are shot. And our models are not actresses, so they usually cannot learn lines and memorise them and repeat them. Frequently we let them improvise so the dialogue sounds natural. Which means the movie then has to go to a translator to make the subtitles. Often we will only have the subtitle file a matter of days - even hours - before the movie goes live. I know Alis has explained this issue to you more than once before, so I'm not going to discuss it with you again. When we are able, we will do it. Meanwhile please see Holmesy's response below.
My goodness. That's quite uncalled for. I see it's been fixed, but you didn't have to resort to being so petulant about it. Barking orders at Rose like she is some mail clerk? Excuse my interjection, but I didn't like that one bit. This crew on VT takes a lot of crap just to keep us members happy. So what if the subtitles are only in streaming? Almost all the models are Czech, Russian, Spanish, ect. There's bound to be some language barrier. Being understanding of that is the forefront of the entertainment.

Yes, they are screenshots, Sydney! Because of the complexity of the story, we felt it would be quite difficult to capture the true flavour of the movie without interrupting the action – hence the decision to try something new. I'm very much in favour – I like the feeling of immediacy, it seems less posed and more authentic. I'll be interested to hear what other members think :-)

Are YOU actually a director yourself??? Because you seem very sure that YOU know better than people who are actually professional directors. I am a member of sexart too and personally I love Lupin's work and I think sexart is just getting better and better. Maybe it's YOU who fails to grasp what the director is doing? You make some good points but you seem quite arrogant in your certainty that YOU know best...
Oh, I agree that everything he does is very intentional, Sydney... (: It's just that some directorial choices I find ~ frustrating ~ and so, if they simply must be used, I wish they would be used in such a fashion as to minimize the frustration elements as much as possible. (: I'm never going to get Alis to shoot a scene the way I would like it if it conflicts with his vision, I understand this. But I'm still going to point out those elements that frustrate me.
That being said, you're 100% right that this is a very good erotica scene... my frustration about the glass is a small element of my reaction and I wouldn't even have noticed it except that many of our MetVerse artists are using this particular technique right now and it's REALLY getting on my nerves because I'm seeing it so often. (: This is the sort of thing that's artistic when done right, and done in moderation, but when overused is extremely frustrating.
I love acting so the more dialogue and story there is to a scene the more exciting it is for me:)

I think you should start thinking about a new era for Alis. Listen, I do listen to your comments (as I do with all members), but I'm not just moved from SA to VT. I'm a pro, I adapt my skills to a new project.
I have been studying and reading VT member comments a lot, during last months, and I developed a film structure. That structure is exactly what you are seeing now. I'm not saying it's perfect and can't be improved!!!... but I hardly will change those main element during the next months.
VT now needs solids films, made for ALL members. I can't shoot for myself or for a bunch of dear & lovely friends.
That said, I do love those new films. They really tells story, showing characters in different moments of their life. You know how it would be easier to take a camera, tell model to "be connected" and shout "action!". I don't do that. Others do, I don't.
When you are going to see a film of mine, you know you are watching a short story. That's my signature. But I need to create a shape everyone likes, understand and appreciate.
There's a moment for shooting "Memento" and there a moment for shooting "Interstellar".

I have to agree with you on the dialogs. It took us a while to get what was going on, I had to read the script twice before I figured out who was Alex lol. Alis is doing his best trying to make these movies special and make every member happy but as Rose said, english is not his mother tongue and it´s very hard to write the scripts in foreign language. He´s got great ideas for the movies but even professional writers work with editors so with a little help from Rose they will come out perfect.
The "showing up in the middle of the night like THIS" thing was my fault, I got too emotional and forgot about my grammar lol
Every story needs a beginning, you are right. But the ending can be deliberately omitted. It´s called "an open ending" and it´s frequently used in literature and cinematography. If we were to tell you the whole story, it would have been a full on 120min movie. You´d forget to masturbate and cry at the end.
I´m glad you´ve noticed my improvement! I´ll keep adjusting my vocal expressions :) I don´t like that tattoo either so no need to apologise. I have to try a tattoo concealer next time, maybe I can cover it.

Rose always does an incredible and priceless job: she helps me so much and I don't know how I could do without her support. That said, I do agree you about many improvements in OSS. But I've already known since before shooting!!!
You know me pretty well and I'm sure you got that huge work I (and all my crew as well) did here to create what VT members did want; there are always rooms to improve and I can get better only with hard work and your helpful comments. But those comments must be addressed to me: I'm the writer and director of all my films and I'm completely responsible about every single details. :)

What you don't seem to appreciate is that of course I share those aspirations... but I am also a realist. And yes, Paul Black would reshoot a billion times, but then he doesn't shoot girl-girl, or dialogue, and as he freely admits, most models will not work with him! I'm a professional writer, of course I know the dialogue is not perfect... but I'm also not going to hold up Alis' shoot for two hours to get three minutes of dialogue right, when we have a shooting schedule to keep to, and the models are already stressed about performing dialogue!
I'm sorry if I came across as annoyed. I'm just frustrated. I'm so happy to have Alis here at VT and I hope members will focus on the positives about this great movie and our lovely models!
Just to give you a bit of a reality check, Sydney... neither of these girls speak English as a first language, and nor does Alis. So, if, for example, the line is actually: "Sorry to turn up in the middle of the night like THAT" and the model says, "like THIS," are you going to reshoot the dialogue a hundred times or are you going to allow her to continue? I know you are a perfectionist, but I'm sure most members appreciate the fact that we are trying to include dialogue at all, and accept that it will not be perfect. Once again, I must remind you that our beautiful models are just that – models, NOT actresses – and the dialogue is the hardest part for them. I think they do an amazing job!
Yes! On the kissing issue. As I address in my comments above, this is a big step (LOL I only just realized the play on the film title here) in the right direction, but not quite there. For me, there needs to be ~ as you say, a better, more subtle buildup, but then, a greater depth to the kiss. Not all enthusiasm and energy, but more depth. More play within the mouths rather than superficial at the lips if you know what I mean. (:
Funny how Rose's dialogue/screenwriting struck me as totally satisfactory for the scene but struck you as pretentious and hollow.... I actually felt the dialogue you specifically highlighted served the purpose Mango's character was trying to accomplish in that moment perfectly... she was trying to tell Talia how important it was to her to take a chance on opening up to Talia because if she hadn't tried ~ even though she knew all along she was doomed to failure (at actually winning Talia's heart vs. just making love that is) she would have regretted not trying for the rest of her life. That totally worked for me.
And the exposition was perfect for me too. I totally agree about the "sorry to show up in the middle of the night" line appearing while they're talking over breakfast. (: However, the rest of the exposition flowed naturally and accomplished its purpose, to me.

Really good points, everyone... but one thing I would add is that until a director shoots a girl for the first time, it's really hard to tell how she will be on camera. Sometimes a really confident, sassy girl will turn shy and inhibited on screen... and sometimes a shy, sweet little thing will turn out to be wild (it's AWESOME when that happens!). So shooting new girls is always a risk, but one worth taking – you might just discover the next big star!
Just read through this article again too, and I saw that pic of Lorena and Tracy at the top too. God they look good together!
We have a very strong female presence here which I think really contributes to making the Network content something that appeals to women as much as men. Our production teams all have key female members (notably Ariel Piper Fawn as producer for Andrej Lupin, and Ilona Black as co-director for Paul Black). We have female artists throughout the Network – Flora, Natasha Schon, Shane Shadow, Koenart immediately spring to mind. There is K, the content manager for MetArt. There's Selena, who works on the technical side (you'll see her blog posts about new site functions etc). Sloane Steel runs our social media and writes the occasional amazing blog post too (check out

Sydney I see you mention "masculine style" quite a bit. Often when you are critiquing a scene you don't particularly like. I'm curious what you mean by that as I'm not entirely sure. Is there a scene on here or sexart that epitomizes the "masculine style" so I can compare it to this and see where you're coming from?

Actually on that one small thing, I don't agree with you, Sydney... I like Guy's choice of font and the way he handles the titles a lot, I think it really suits the style of the film. But... typography is another of those things that is incredibly personal! Having worked in print media, I have spent many long hours debating fonts with graphic designers, and everyone has different ideas :-)
Guy - Cumpleaños Feliz by Alis Locanta. That perfectly captures the feeling I'm talking about in the first sentence of my last paragraph. The feelings that film gave me are the feelings I want to experience at VT :)

Oh, I forgot one more thing. With the subtitle, 'Elegant Beauty', in the film it needs to read like that, with capitals, and not 'elegant beauty', it just doesn't look as professional otherwise. I'd probably also separate the title and it's subtitle, instead of collating them.

Sydney, I totally agree with "Confessions of a Makeup Artist" ~ what a great movie!
Ironically, I disagree with you that this scene in particular isn't indicative of a "first-time" experience, to me it actually seems like it could be a realistic first time experience for a woman to discover her latent lesbianism or bisexuality via her developing feelings for her roommate. The scenario of watching her roommate dress seems real to me (though not, obviously, right out in the open as in this scene, but more likely through a cracked door or a window) and likewise looking through the roommate's closet and underwear drawer. That all seems realistic and authentic to me. What wasn't authentic was the total lack of chemistry/ sexual connection between these two particular girls.
Cast this scene with two girls who are lesbian or bisexual, and genuinely have the sexual hots for each other, however, and you'd have a 100% different scene. ( :

The point isn't the newness of the girls, Sydney, it's the convincingness of their passion. If they can't even French kiss as well as I did my very first French kiss (it wasn't a very good kiss I'm afraid, but anyone watching me [it was during truth or dare at a party so I had plenty of observers] would have been convinced of my passion and my desire ~ regardless of the fact that there was zero technique to it) then it is obvious that though they might know each other in "real life," they might trust each other, they might have a great friendship ~ but there's no passion there.
I agree there's a place for new girls, and I want to keep seeing new girls. But I want to see girls who like playing with girls, not girls who are playing with girls just for the job. No matter how beautiful and alluring they are in all other respects. ( :
A good guess, but 'The Lingerie Consultancy' is one of mine, haha! You know I'm a little bit obsessed with girls in sexy lingerie :-) You will be surprised by what Holmesy has written I think, it's something really original and very interesting. And scene one of SLV is the VT debut of Mona Kim, one of the girls I met in Sitges, and she's a little older, very sexually confident, and really hot! I'm very excited about these new movies...

I think you make an excellent point here, Sydney, and I think this is why Guy's movies using Spanish models have been really successful, because he has known the models better and been able to cast them really well – for example, Carolina Abril as the ingenue in 'Learning Curve,' with Amarna Miller as her teacher and seductress. Absolutely perfect casting!
Of course it's not so easy when you are travelling to another country and relying on agents to help you find the right models, then meeting them and having to make a quick decision about whether they will fit a particular role. Stay tuned... the next two scenes coming have got it EXACTLY right, in my opinion... I'm going to be really interested to hear what everyone thinks about them :-)
I totally agree, Benny and Sydney, I've felt the same way for a long time.
I STILL am crossing my fingers that VT will beg, borrow or steal something that will entice Jo to come back, at least on a part-time basis. Her films were FANTASTIC, IMO.

A good point, I think. And to repeat what Benny mentioned about switching directors around, I think a little variety would help. It would be good to see Lupin, Locanta and Carravaggio helping to share the workload as well as broadening the styles a little.
